I hope I didn't ruin it, it never seems like I'm coming across strongly when I'm writing the post.

Well this is what I installed today.
It's this intake I bought on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/230785717848...84.m1497.l2649
It came with a cheap filter so I bought a K&N one and $87 total was how much I spent.
I left the entire bottom factory tubing for now because I think the filter would get more air with it than without. I drove around today in 50F weather and I noticed a little gain. This is my first intake on a manual car and the sound is amazing along with my mid-muffler delete.

That looks nice.
Good for winter but better if you do some mods to it when summer comes..
I have AEM but sometimes I miss the hissing sound of K&N..

Yes K&N needs to be oiled... big reason why many members don't like it
I personally don't want to put oiled filter right into intake..
How loud it is depends on the pipe or throttle, not filter.
Filter changes the tone a little.
With K&N, it totally has whistle (hissing) sound, kind of turbo sound.
AEM gives more like.. tough engine sound
by tough, I mean like comparing our engine sound with a BMW engine...
and does that at full throttle or during high rpms
so with AEM, hissing gets lower but loud high rpms sounds damn nice

Well my TL is a 6MT I recently put the stock airbox back on because I didn't want a warm air intake in the summer. I had an OEM filter before that SRI I had, and now I am running with a K&N replacement filter. From my experience, I think the SRI only provided me gain during cooler weather. I loved the sound when I had it but my TL's mileage is getting up there and it's time to keep my car the normal way. With the middle muffler delete, my car sounds still sweet with the stock airbox and it will stay that way. But wow, with quieter engine sound, it made me realize once again how smooth our powertrain is. I am also noticing about 1 MPG gain with stock airbox and K&N filter.

am not a big big fan of the SRI's....they heat soak a lot....I was running a 4" SRI and it seemed to provide decent gains only because I had my IAT sensor relocated....
but I recently "converted that to a 4" CAI and there is no going back for me
2005 Acura TL:
I did not have an extra SS clamp, but I drove to Home Depot and got the clamp and installed it....

There are no gains from a K&N filter ever, ever, ever. The only possible gain is a loss from timing being pulled due to the hot air of the SRI and being put back in with the stock semi cold air intake. Intake restriction can not affect mpg. I think I've said this once or twice.

So... played with the heat shield today
I took my small piece and with small pieces of card board, slowly by taking my time, created this...
Started from bottom...so right now there is no way air escaping somewhere else.
And only opened part is the right top part you see
When I will close the 2 right and left...boom no more gap to the engine from the bottom of the SRI tube
See the bottom?
Only gap...
and about to close
Nooo way heat getting in from the left side
I could also close the right side too but didn't want it.
Don't think it could pull lot of warm air from there + filter is aiming down...soo
--------------------
I have some doubts about removing resonator or keeping it but cutting the pipe and extending it.
I check the fender with a flashlight....
The unknow tube... which is
iss right on top of the fender area... so close
air goes up from the fender and enters here directly...that close
so I have doubts on how will air go down in to the CAI area or if we remove the resonator and extend a pipe...
anyways
I replaced the pipe that I connected the air pipes
bigger diameter on the top area so it grabs all the air
it's a pvc pipe...after a long drive...still the coldest part in the engine bay

I really don't love starting from 0 with this car but I know on highway that intake will answer...
Will see..

If you're getting hesitation issues it's extremely unlikely that the root cause is stock intake. These are Honda luxury cars designed and built to purr like bulletproof kittens under any weather condition. However in 2020 they are also now old worn out cars with various things failing from age & mileage. Something is causing your hesitation, and it's not bad design.
I recommend using Google with keywords "3G TL" & "hesitation" - usually the first few results will be relevant Acurazine threads. Good luck!
