![Question](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I'm looking to put in a cold air intake but not sure which brand. does it really make that much of a difference from OEM intake (besides the noise)? Injen seems to do better for the RSX over the AEM as far as some charts i've seen on horsepower curves but not sure if it applies the same to the TL. AEM runs about 50 dollars cheaper than Injen. Thanks for opinions
I know there have been other threads out there on this issue but nothing with a direct comparison of AEM and Injen (at least in my searches). Also seems like most people here use AEM more than Injen so I couldnt find too many opinions on Injen intakes.

Does it make a difference? Undoubtably YES! it does! I just had my AEM CAI thrown in saturday and the second i left the shop when i took off i thought, damn this is worth it. AEM quotes about 19/20hp gain from their dyno. Check out e-bay when you want to buy the CAI, got a pretty good deal at 180 bucks (plus 20 for shioppin)

check out the installation, i know one's suggested installation requires drilling a new gound point for some wires so u can mount the mounting bracket int he old hole...
i wanna say it was the injen one

Horsepower and Torque curves.
Looks like this makes me lean towards AEM. Though i'm sure there is some biasing.

By looking at the charts the AEM CAI kicks butt the INJEN by quite a big margin in terms of hp gains and Torque gains.

I know what you all are saying...but these do not reflect what the charts read after having also done the "alternate"2nd mod that Injen never mentions in their directions that AEM does.....has something to do with relocating a oxygen temp sensor or something....many posts about it.

ok let me jump in to the topic for a moment I got the AEM and I did an install for the injen on another TL same as mine and the injen blows! the AEM pipe is huge in comparison to the injen and then the AEM pipe has an additional hole for a sensor to be moved off the throttle body onto the intake then they give you a plug for the hole thats left after you move the sensor. BUUUUUT that sensor is for "off road use only" I ripped the car up the block it felt eeeh then I moved the sensor and it felt like my balls shot up into my throat. So my opinion AEM if ur into less power and not a lot of noise go INJEN

I've got an AEM intake coming. sounds like i made the right choice. so you recommend i move the sensor to the intake then? does it affect anything when it comes time to do emissions tests?

It doesnt seem to affect anything but a slight increase in power and noise. I doubt it'll do anything to emissions but if your paranoid swap it back it takes 3 secs.

yea i was abou tto post the group about this but the V2 is avail on the 03- auto as it is. makes u wonder how the normal aem CAI is still higher thent he injen under their circumstances.
w/e, sometimes i think with the limited upgrades to the TL the manu's know there is something new on the brink. but this close to december we'd be seeing some prototypes so at least not till 07.

The regular intake almost resembles a v2 but doesnt have an enlarged pipe its normal but big the pipe is 3inch the throttle is 2.75inch they increase it by a quarter inch so it really sucks!
