AEM V2 CAI installed
so i finally got my aem v2 intake installed i know theres alot of threads out there but im very pleased with it other than the fact that while i was tightening down the double sided threaded rubber garmet into the outside of the engine bay frame were the larger chamber of the intake bolts onto snapped off and i had to use my stock rubber garmet from the stock intake box and a longer bolt, so yea other than that im happy with it and pleased a lil on the higher side of the price as i also bought it from heeltoe.com but well worht it as i mainly bought it for better gas mileage and a little more performance but i am really glad i bought it.....i can also actually hear the vtec change over!(i have AT type S), and it sounds alot deeper and throater of the engine under wot, and im getting better gas mileage.
has anyone used a HKS air filter as i heard that air filter is way better and gives bout 5-6hp just the filter alone
next on the list is new fuel filter (does anybody remember as i cant, when you are supposed to change out the fuel filter...wats the mileage when your supposed to do that?), and rv6 j-pipe with magnaflow resonator and then straight pipe
anybody else running this setup? thoughts on it and performance...mainly looking for feedback from AT type S guys, as i know perforamnce will deff differ from AT to Manual
by the way i had to take off the battery and front bumper and wheel well and tire to install my CAI....and i didnt even have to look up the procedure online its not that difficult, just takes time

Also, no filter will make that kind of power. Unless your filter is clogged horribly.

Maybe they were comparing it to stock but yea some airfilters do give 5-6 hp, and because mine was never messed with it come pretty much how it comes the factory so I had to removenthe front bumper and battery to remove the stock intake and resonator

I've got a question for BOSSTLtypes-s or anyone else in CA.
IF we are doing mods to our intake system and exhaust. Does this mess w/our ability to pass smog? Don't the testers look for modified intakes and exhaust and flag you? Or do we have to find places that "look the other way"?

^you will have NO problems with intakes and exhausts.
it's when you start messing with catalytic converters...that is what MAY get you in trouble. everything is state dependent and i know they're a bit more strict out there in Cali.

Ya, thanks SharksBreath, they are more strict out here in CA. And I see TONS of other cars w/bad ass exhausts and CAI's etc. So it's gotta be ok. I just wanna know for sure from some CA people, before I start down that money pit road.

lajay007, I live in socal like you, passing smog with a jpipe and 3rd cat delete is no problem, as long as you have the 2 primary cats. intake though, is purely for visual inspection, will not affect smog results. I believe the AEM v2 has a CARB sticker so you should be fine, unless he wants to be super picky and run the # and find out its actually for an accord....but dont worry there are A LOT of places who will look the other way, socal is car modding central lol. I've seen cars with swapped engines and catless pass no problem(with extra $).

Yup, a few states can't sell liquor in stores on Sundays. Only bars and restaurants. As in Indiana, where you have to stock up for the Indy 500 the day before...but they let you bring in coolers of beer into the race.

PA was like that for a while, now all the beer spots and state run liquor stores are open Sunday. They can't sell both together and not at supermarkets which kinda sucks. Some of the distributors are pretty cheap though cause you're buying a whole case of beer, it messes with me when I go to NJ and see booze everywhere lol. Not enough to make me want to move to Cali, I like the gun laws here.
Aren't Cali inspections every 2 years? Just swap the stock intake back if you're worried.

Utah is one of those as well. I've never really understood the reasoning. I don't drink so it doesn't affect me. It just doesn't seem to make sense. It's like if they didn't sell gas on Wednesday. I'd just fill up the day before
Congrats OP on your purchase. It's a great quality part. I considered the AEM V2 for a while but have never been able to justify the price compared to the cheapie CAI's on ebay. The science behind the dual tube thing doesn't cut it for me. AEM says it's supposed to cause some sort of resonation that optimizes air flow. I personally think that's snake oil. And if it is true, it probably is on the scale <1% increased efficiency in air flow (not volume, just "efficiency" or "ease of air flow" for lack of better words). The only scientific backing that a CAI can prove that actually improves power is simply obtaining cooler air outside the engine bay. That's just the Ideal Gas Law at work there. PV=nRT. Cooler gas (oxygen) = more dense = more O2 molecules = more combustion. Nevertheless, many swear by AEM so who am I to disagree. I'm just not convinced enough to pull the trigger. And since I'm a performance-only guy, sound and looks of the part don't matter to me.
Anyway, that's just my . Truthfully, if I was given this CAI for free, or even the same cost as the cheapies, I'd use it too. I just don't want to pay for it
