I asked my friend's opinion on AEM and he said that they have a tendency of getting water inside. Is this true about the product in general or it depends on the car? I'm planning to get the aspec suspension installed soon which would drop it about an inch so i'm concerned.

Its always a good idea to get the Air-Bypass valve w/ The AEM to reduce the chance of hydro-lock. I think there $30-40...But i don't recommend driving through hurricanes

Let me know how it goes. I was thinking of buying one, but i wanted to hear what people think of it first. Gonna get it off ebay for 190$, or just off that ptuning site, since it offeres free shipping. BTW - how difficult is it to install this? I dont want to spend much more money on a professional installation.

I had it on my '03 TL-s but, I hated the hissing sound caused by taking the resonator out.
Don't know if the 3g's will do that.

Aem says the bypass valve isn't compatible with the cold air set up on the TL. My car is lowered an inch. The Tl's have good splash guards so I don't anticipate a problem. the filter has to be completely submerged in water in order to suck the water up..

While I dont have the AEM cold air intake, the K&N one should settle in at around the same spot as the AEM filter...Ive had it on since early september and have driven though some pretty major storms both in Northern California and then those crazy weekends in LA where inches upon inches were dumped...as has been mentioned before, the filter is pretty well protected by the bumper and the splash guards. The deepest water I have gone through went halfway up the wheel...which is just about where the filter is and I still didnt have any problem with water getting into the engine..although it was only a puddle and not sustained driving. I would think that you can always cut the intake and install a bypass valve..I thought about doing that on mine, although now I do not think that is necessary.

Just got my aem polished aluminum cai. Install was super easy and I don't know much about under the hood. To answer earlier question about the 3G tl hissing sound yes it also does this on my 05 tl. They say it is normal so everyone that has this can't be wrong. I hope no water gets in haven't rained here yet so I'll be taking it easy when we finally do get some rain, they say you really have to go threw some big puddles for that baby to suck up water. I hope there right.
