AEM CAI worth it?

It's at least worth getting rid of the 10 lb endlsess maze of plastic boxes that completes the factory intake. The stock intake mod probably does the same thing as the AEM but for $120 you get a little bling under the hood.
and a dry filter!

disagree. there are a few people that "know" someone who has hydrolocked and feed the hydrolock hysteria. I've had a CAI (AEM) on in north Florida for 3 years and have hit some heavy puddles (it's actually been raining all day). there's plenty of threads discussing this topic but, basically, you would have to ingest a solid column of water somewhere around the top of the wheel arch.
I know 2 people that have hydrolocked their engines. One had water over his hood and continued looking for a place to park it (civic) - still ran, albeit not very well. The second stalled out in a puddle up to the door handles and continued to crank it over and over - she killed it.
Just use your head. You've got so many other things to worry about if you get into something this deep that you might as well just call a wrecker to haul you right to a mechanic.

Completely agree......at full price. For that price, why not get it. Of course, this is coming from somebody that is replacing his original AEM with a V2 after only about 5000 miles.

A J35A8 EG civic is in
Go for it. Just dont be stupid and go into floods. Ive driven in torrential rains and I havent hydrolocked, I did hydroplane and go sideways on Rt80 for a 1/4 mile and then end up straight in the shoulder, but I havent hydrolocked . Puddles really dont cause it.

Looks pretty restrictive. I've put 35K on my CAI in flood prone Florida. The area I work in has disastrous flooding when the rain really comes down. This is my daily driver. Just drive smart...if you think a puddles too deep, it is.

The best example I was ever given about CAI and sucking in water is to image a straw. Suck air in through a straw and splash water in front of the tip of the straw and see how much water you get in your mouth. You have to submerge the straw in the water to get any real water in your mouth. This example applies to intakes as well. You would need to submerge the CAI in a deep puddle and excelerate through the puddle to suck any water into the engine. Hydroloc was never a thought in my mind with any of my cars. I was woried more about getting into a small fender bender and bending or breaking the intake more then any other concern.
