AEM CAI Install

I'm a novice when it comes to modifying cars, but can certainly follow instructions; how difficult is it to install the AEM cold air intake?

it's not difficult if u can follow instructions and read the diy's on this website. u can always ask questions if u get stuck and they will be answered pretty quickly.

the key to the install and making sure u don't waste an excess 3 hours doing it is to make sure u have all the tools u need when u start. read the instructions beforehand to see what u need and u do need a jack and jack stands (pretty cheap).

One word of advise, do not drain your radiator as the instructions ask you to. Just have some paper towels ready when you disconnect a line that runs coolant and don't panic when some fluid pours out, it's minimal and by doing this you will save yourself at least an hour.
I did mine and a friends who also owns a '05 TL....and I just did my Jeep Rubicon as well....

i agree, don't drain the fluid...i only lost a few drops anyway

i'm pretty new to modding and installing the intake took me just under 2 hours...AND i took off the whole bumper b/c i wanted to clear and black out my headlights at the same time...this way i didn't have to jack it up either

the instructions that come with the intake are pretty good except for the fluid part...you might want to check out the 3G garage for more info too

good luck

I too am a noob when it comes to modding cars. After installing the CAI, will I have to reset the ecu or anything like that? If so, how?

This is irrelevant, but i contacted Acura, and asked would the AEM CAI void my warranty. They responded, "yes." I looked on the box of my AEM CAI and it said "Guaranteed Will not Void Warranty." So, Yes or No? Does the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act really work if you prove the problem wasn't the after market product?

If you are really concerned about this-- have an Acura dealer install it for you. It will not void your warranty unless you drive into a lake -- or fail to maintain your filter properly-- or some other internal damage caused by something injested through the intake.
