AEM CAI - Filter Color and Question

I just got the AEM CAI and have a couple questions.

1. I saw some pic's on this thread and the filter color's were either gray or reddish. The one I received is white. Is this like an old model or something?

2. I also saw some posts's stating that the AEM CAI does not need to be cleaned because it was oil based. This one states it is non-oiled based and needs to be cleaned. Doesn't say how often though.

Did I somehow get a cheap version of the AEM CAI? The part number is 21-513P

I think my filter was more grey. Every ad I've seen for the dry flow is NON oiled, and perform better dirty.

part # is right, but my dryflow filter was grayish in color

dryflow filters still need to be cleaned periodically, but they do not require oiling

Has anyone cleaned their filter yet?

These dryflow filters are oil free, so you just shake off the dirt.....right

Thanks for the info, I guess they may have several colors. I got this one from amazon for $209 whereas most other sites had it for $250-280 so I thought maybe amazon tried to rip me off by sending a cheaper one.

I would like to find out how often it needs to be cleaned. I think I remember reading somewhere every 20K miles. I can't find the site to confirm though.

Please take note that Amazon have resellers selling stuff on their site. I have never seen a white filter for AEM. You should call AEM and verify. You don't want a sub standard filter filtering the air that's going into your engine.

I just ordered an extra filter for my AEM so that I could clean my original one and it is the white one, with a flyer stating "Different color, same great performance!!" The white ones might be their new ones..... so no worries

I also bought the cleaning kit from AEM, and I clean it once a year.

You don't have to get an extra filter, I did it so I wouldn't have to wait for the one that I cleaned to dry before driving somewhere.

They come with both white or gray filters. If you check the instructions, it will say that both are the same dry-flow filter, just change in colors.

I was under the impression the dryflow could be cleaned, but since the filter is like 40 is it even worth cleaning

Pretty sure they last anywhere from 75k to 100k, but who really drives that much, but if it looks dirty then I guess replace it

I am lucky to have a fujita where the filters cost a third less

The dryflow filter can be cleaned, they recommend like every 25K-30K... It's like 12 for the cleaning kit, I just want to get a spare, so that I can change it out, clean the existing one and keep it ready. Cuz it takes a few hours for the filter to clean.

So NO NEED TO CHANGE, just clean it
