Accurate J series engine weights

Reference info here for those that are interested...

I weighed a J37A2 and J35A8 (what I have on hand) and thought it would be useful for others to know. Both engines were identically equipped, but the J37 might have had a bit more coolant in the block. Both engines still had oil in them. A few things to note: both of these engines have magnesium valve covers; the J37 does not have iron cylinder liners, but it has extra valvetrain hardware to accommodate full VTEC.

Engine assemblies minus:
Intake manifold
Exhaust manifolds
EGR valve
Flywheel
Engine mounts
Wire harness
All accessories

J37A2: 298 lbs
J35A8: 296 lbs
