Accura 3.2 engine + 6sp tranny in Honda odyssey. or questions in engine swaps

I have honda odyssey and about to pick up totaled Accura TL 2005.
auto transmission on odyssey is a toast. instead of spending 1000$ on rebuild kit, solenoids, radiator etc etc i want to put accura engine + manual tranny in odyssey.

reason is that odyssey is a business car. delivery vehicle. i love how it handles. but auto trannys always blow on odysseys. i am gonna put a lot of miles on it and dont feel like dealing with constant transmission rebuilds every 40-50K miles.

i have enought experience with cars, welding, rebuild engines, welded frames in the past.

so manufacturing engine mounts, cutting frame, fitting shifter i can do easily. yes those are projects but i am innovative enough.

I am mostly concerned about wiring.
basically besides engine harness and ECU what else do i have to move from accura to honda and how do i mate components.

and then maybe finding half axles that will be long enough and will fit odyssey wheel assembly. but it's still not a big problem i think.

any guides or threads about engine + manual tranny swap from one model honda to another. i just started searching.

yes i've heard all those people saying it's just a van. but i plan to keep it for another 10 years problem free. i already put 40k miles on it only on oil changes.

The ECM has an immobilizer.

You'd have to swap the ECM, harness, immobilizer and keys over to the odyssey.

Gauge cluster would be an issue as well. The 05's cluster is fed from a data bus that runs through the car over the wiring harness and gives the RPM, Speed, fuel, etc data to the cluster. It also communicates with a lot of the other systems on the TL.

I don't think the odyssey's cluster is going to work with the ECM out of the '05. It'd be a pretty big project to get everything to work. A lot of electrical work to swap it all over and have it function.

Also the '05 TL is drive by wire and is going to need the VSA modulator, AC switches and power steering switch input to the ECM for the throttle control.

Not to mention the emissions systems are probably different.

It sounds like its going to be a massive head-ache on the electrical side and probably require you to swap a lot more than you intended to if you go through with it with all of the systems on these cars.

Did they not put manuals in the odysseys at all? If they did it'd be easier to do a swap for a odyssey MT, but would still probably be extensive changes and expensive.

If your get the hole wrecked tl6 then you will have every thing you need to swap. If the mileage is not crazy you could keep the 3.5 Odyssey short block and put the tl heads and intake on, that way you will not loose any of the low end torque you currently have and will gain more revs and top end hp. You will need a thinner head gasket but if you are going to have every thing pulled apart why not go as big as you can.

Honda employees at the Alabama assembly plant built a turbo MT V6 odyssey track car.

Note on the AT. I have an 06 Odyssey with 150K miles. Regularly tows 5000 lbs of race car and trailer (at 90 mph) for several thousand miles every year. AT is in perfect condition and has never given us any problems. The trick was to install the transmission cooler package.

i looked around it's just cheaper to buy a used honda and trade old one in. buying one for 1800$ selling mine to some shop for 1000$. all in one day.
i may still do this swap in future. if i find a 2008 TL type S. in a vtech minivan will run circles around BMWs, make them overheat and fail like they always do.

it's a huge project. will take few months. as exciting as it is it's not realistic for me to accomplish everything quickly.

yes will install the biggest cooler that will fit in front of the radiator/AC radiator.
and replace all solenoids on AT.

It take a money and time commitment to complete this kind of project, sounds like you understand that. But it would be badass to have a 300+hp MT Odyssey!!! Wish you the best

I bet it would take less of both than one might think. Everyone said that, and it couldnt be done about the 2ndgen back in the day. Honda shares SO much throughout all its cars it might be easier than one thinks.
