OK so I ended up purchasing a set of K20 pistons from 14J35y2 and I think we can easily machine them to work, but I'll report back with pictures etc when we do.

On another subject though, we decided to make our own rods to suit J32A2 and wanted to let everyone know in case they're doing one and might want some for their build. I felt that the Pauter rods were way too expensive and so these ones we will be looking to sell for around $ 850 USD for a set (including rod bolts), maybe a little cheaper. Let me know if you're keen on a set as we're planning on doing another run if people are interested, but we have enough for our engines for now.

Looks like pindustry rods. Are you using true arp rid bolts?

Not sure who pindustry, ours are made locally in NZ. Yes we're using ARP 2000 head studs.

We haven't made rods for J35's yet as these were just for our J32 project, but as far as I'm aware they're just longer with everything else the same so should be straight forward enough, but it's not really worth us setting up for one set. I'd need to get at least 3 or 4 sets to make it worth while at that price point mentioned above $800 ish……. would also help to break up the freight cost. But am keen to make some if enough people want them.

I know P2R are doing something really similar to our J32 rods for J35 for around $ 1000 a set so cheaper than Pauter but I know we can be cheaper whilst not sacrificing quality.

Let me know if you're interested and we can talk some more. Happy to help out the community.

So we finally got a jig made up to hold the pistons. We have machined 6 of these as we'll be starting with 2 engines so I'm going to purchase another set of pistons now we're happy we can easily reproduce the finish we need.

We've assembled the engines and used moulding clay on top of the pistons to check clearances and we're all good.

Next step is getting the engine assembled with our new rods and pistons and getting it run up and dyno tested. We're running 2 x Borg Warner EFR 6258's so we should realistically be looking at 800HP at the flywheel. Will keep you posted if anyone is interested ?

New reliefs machined

Jig to make sure we can repeat for all 4 sets.

cN anybody confirm successful swapping the K series piston into the J32 block. I am in the process of boosting a 2004 Acura TL and I want some low compression pistons for my application

Ahhhhh did you even read my post only a couple of posts back about us machining out K series pistons for J32 application ?

Engines are getting assembled at the moment, but look fine once extra reliefs are machined out.

honestly I have been reading thru the posts but didn’t feel satisfied enough, so I asked again. I live in the Bahamas and I just wanted to be sure. I have very little space for error because everything I need has to be imported.

In a J32, which has decent size domes on the pistons to achieve 11:1 compression, you can use OEM J35 pistons to reduce the compression ratio.

If you use a J35A8 piston (07-08 TL Type-S), then the resulting compression ratio would be 10.25:1.
If you use a J35Z3 piston (08-12 Accord V6 MT), then the resulting compression ratio would be 9.8:1.

ood night buddy, thanks for your info. But I have a next question. What if I use the pistons out a 2002 Acura MDX 3.5? Can that work in my 2004 Acura TL 3.2 engine block? If so what all would I need to replace. I knw you told me the 08-12 accord v6 pistons would work but I have the mdx and if I can I would rather use those pistons rather than buying new ones

RJA (J35A8): 371 grams
RDA (J32A3): 391 grams

Weights are just the piston, no pin and no rings.

What's interesting here is that only the J37 piston is without coating on the skirt. The J37 block does not have iron sleeves, so this makes sense. But the coating on the R9P piston suggests that it has iron sleeves. Why would Honda go back to iron sleeves with this new engine block?
Once again, you're several steps ahead of me, and by several years!
