i need help figuring out what ecu will be the best option to make the 6spd transmission work. can someone help me find a 06 6 speed ecu that is up for sale? or at least help with the serial no/code for the ECU. I believe its Keihin A24 or A23?

one of the members on Azine has one for sale but i think its either A04 or A05 series.

Now where does the Clutch pedal mount on the top of the clutch pedal mount to? i see no mounting points for the top clutch pedal mount on our cars. womp womp.

Did you figure out where/how to mount the clutch pedal? i am really hoping i don;t have to afro-engineer any part of this swap and have to drill my own holes through the fire wall

Since this was already bumped can we stop avoiding the question and answer this -- how much did this cost?

you need to share your secret, that's what you need to do lol, this will become a highly visited thread in the future with the price of these cars going down, im considering selling mines right now and getting one cheaper down the road and then boost it, but most likely it will be an auto not a 6 speed like the one i got now so i will revisit this thread cause i may have to do this plus i hate most auto trannies with a passion

lol

price for parts will vary obviously. i say that based on what type of clutch you go with and how much you get the trans for

you should be able to find a used 6 speed trans at a junkyard or ebay for 1000-1500 depending on miles. your clutch/flywheel will range from maybe 500$ for stock, up 2000$ for the twin disk that I have.

all the miscellaneous parts that are listed in this thread will cost you around another 2000$. (clutch/brake pedal, shifter box, mt ecu, master cyl, slave cyl, speedo cluster, starter, shift cables, 2 engine harnesses, trans mounts, etc)

so looks like on the low end 3500 and the high end 5000 for parts. then add whatever someone will charge to install.

I'm not 100% on this question but I think it was somewhere around 2800 to 3000. I bought the Engine and transmission for $1800.00 picked up. He pretty much pulled the motor out with the whole subframe. The seller also threw in clutch & brake pedal, ECU and all the wiring harnesses.

The rest of the money was spent for things such as the transmission mounts, Clutch Master Cylinder, Shifter box and Linkage, Fluids, etc..etc.

We're just working on twin turbo for the spare j32 in the garage. I want to boost it so badly lol

are you talking about compatibility issues with different years? 04-06 parts are interchangeable

Hey Bert,
Sorry if this sounds stupid, I gotta ask cause I missed it when searching. If I was able to get a donor 07 type-s 6 MT, would we be able to drop the 07 engine/transmission combo into our 04-06 TL?
I am looking at the engine and transmission mounts, but my real concern is would the mounts from the 07 line up to our mount locations, my suspicion is no because looking at the lower transmission mount for the 07's looks completely different than our 04-06.

I would say yes you can drop that 07 type s motor in a 04-06 car. Aftermarket motor mounts are same design for all years (04-08) base and type s.

trans mounts look exactly the same to me in the pictures despite the different part numbers. if trans mounts from 07 dont work on the 04 subframe then get a 07-08 subframe

youll probably need the 07 engine harness's and ecu as well

check this thread

Ok I seen that everyone in this thread has done this on a 04-06 base model... Has anyone tried it on an 08 Type-S? What are the differences? Are the trannys the same for the base and type s models from 07-08? I know that the programming on the ecus are different between the two but I have a Hondata so are the plugs the same on the ecu from base to type s??

Do you need Axles/half shaft to make this work? Also there is a engine top mount by the radiator that my mechanic is telling me a need a new aluminum mount for but I don't see any parts need for engine mounts -_-.. is this true?

^your mechanic is prob referring to the Engine damper (I believe),that comes standard on the MT TL's. I also believe the MT engine mounts are slightly different as well. There is a thread on this page of perf section about it. On the other questions, I don't know.

Edit: Engine torque Damper...
