Your car came from the factory with a CAI, so you're good to go there unless you want more noise. A Short Ram Intake (SRI) is often called a Warm Air Intake; no thanks.

I agree with you on "no thanks" . Since I'm going with the bigger throttle body I won't be using the factory CAI. Deciding on using the AEM V2 since it has a port for the IAT move.

What are you expecting from a larger throttlebody and intake? Is the rest of the engine and the exhaust also heavily modified?

Big TB for make the vroom vroom!

I remember a guy named KingkongDave(or a variation of) who installed a Comptech Supercharger onto his TL and was planning to install a 4” CAI. He said O’Reillys(or Vatozone) had a “Piece-it-Yourself” aluminum intake section.

Do you think that would help? I suppose 3+’ of 3” intake piping would be restrictive when the S/C is spinning north of 5k RPM.

Expecting around 10hp increase with larger mani and tb. Lower intake runners will be ported and polished when installing mani swap. Exhaust is Tsudo catback quad titanium burnt tips and OBX pcd's and j pipe. Do you suggest a different cai. I figured since it's going to breathe better then why not go with an aem v2. Topping off all mods with a hondata flashpro.

Maybe it's just me, but that seems like a heck of a lot of money and effort for a measly ten horsepower.

To each his own. Basically heavily modding piece by piece. I'm not too loaded. But have enough to play with. Swapping the mani and tb is pretty effortless in my opinion.

If it helps you on your goal of 200mph then go for it. Good luck. Don't forget to remove the govenor...

That's a good plan! It doesn't hurt to get a larger induction path for your TL. You can pick whichever CAI is easier for you to tackle, build one or buy one off the shelf.

I guess that depends upon how you define the phrase "not hurt". While a huge intake will physically do no damage to the engine (assuming proper filtration), such a large intake will very likely harm mid-range torque.

I think it all depends on your modifications. If the engine and exhaust is stock then yes the stock intake is best option. For guys that modify the exhaust, intake, tb and so on a bigger cai is a good option especially with a new tune. Theres a number of dyno sheets that can show that. Yes possible loss of torque but up top there are good gains.

I really don't think going large size intake prior to the TB will have a negative impact. It's changes to the intake manifold design that would move the power around, intake runner lengths. TL can switch between a long intake path to a short path to take advantage of both, but for a track car a shorter path is favored for high rpm use.
