I have both on my 06 Base Auto and didn't really feel a difference at all. Only gained 3hp on peak power. Way over priced for the gains you get. Just pick yourself up the 3.5 IM/TB and save some money.

the previous poster above you pointed out that there was only a 3whp gain, that would be even LESS gains for your 3.5L engine....
then, you ask..."would I need to get it tuned to get full potential?"
a big fat

if previous poster only gained 3whp on his 3.2 without being tuned.....

Your best bet to get best gains without a tune is to get the 3.7 Manifold, 3.7 Throttle body, 3.5" - 4" Intake, and Port & Polish runners all together. To get maximum gains with these mods you will need a tune to squeeze the remaining power. Since you are getting the Manifold & Throttle body cheap from your job, I would suggest you pick them up as others have paid $450+ on this setup. I spent $754.18 shipped (I was living in the islands at the time) on this setup which included the 3.7 manifold cover and some nuts and bolts.Originally Posted by D-Ramey

Prices look like this brand new from dealer without the manifold cover as you can reuse your 3.5 cover. (3.2 users have to get either the 3.5 / 3.7 manifold cover):
17160-RK2-A00 INTAKE MANIFOLD $243.02
16400-RYE-A11 THROTTLE BODY $208.18 (This is the ZDX Throttle body btw)
16176-RYE-A10 GASKET $0.52
17140-RK1-A01 COVER, IN. MANIFOLD (UPPER) $189.63
17105-RCJ-A01 MANIFOLD GASKET $25.48

Short summary:
Quote:
Performance Gains
Weight reduced by a few pounds (3.7 manifold is magnesium and the 04-08 IM is aluminum)
Air/Fuel ratios evened out quite well with this mod - I had been previously running very rich with all my exhaust mods, around 11.4. Once the 3.7 was on and air flow was increased, it leaned out to more expected levels of 12.3 or so. Pretty good for stock ECU.
Without a port and polish, just the 3.7 IM/TB, I saw about 7 whp / 5 wtq gain, and I was already fully bolted on with exhaust, HFPC's, jpipe, and aem v2 intake. This is also without a tune. Here is my dyno chart of before/after:

It is assumed that a 3.2 TL would gain more from this mod as the 3.5 Type-S intake manifold flows more already, so the jump to the 3.7 isn't as big as it would be from the 3.2 platform.
With port and polish expect minimal gains over what I got - the 3.7 flows very well already. There are gains to be had with ported runners, though. to the tune of 5-10 whp. Also if you already have a PnP'ed intake manifold on your current 3.2 or 3.5 manifold, this swap to the 3.7 won't gain you much if anything.
Conclusion
Will benefit from a tune greatly but still offers good mid-range and top-end gains.

My question is tho, why do alot of people use the 3.7 ZDX throttle body instead of the 3.7 TL throttle body? Is it because you can bore out the outlet of the ZDX more than the 3.7 TL throttle body?. I've dug through and came across on a thread saying because of that reason... Also because Mr. heeltoeauto.com has the 3.7 TL throttle body for $175 and the 3.7 ZDX for $239 that's a $64 difference & another thing the 3.7 TL has an Inlet of 80mm and the ZDX has a 78mm but both have the same 70mm outlet.... Can somebody explain this to me this is the part I'm a little confused on ????

I would like to know the answers as well, I was baffled the last week because I bought the TB from an Odyssey, hoping to have a bigger TB than my current J32 TB, turns out it's the same size, also the TB from the Type S is the same size. Where we can find the exact sizes of each engine? I'm really interested in knowing what it's going on with this as well.
At the time, the ZDX TB was a lot cheaper than the 3.7TL
Here's the same day dyno tests I made with my TL-S with different TB and other cool things... this will answer most of your questions

Dom you said on your post that you liked the power gains you got from your stock throttle body combined with your 4" intake you think it will be worth putting a 3.5" intake on my stock base 3.2 ? I've been itching to do a intake mod but don't know either to wait to get j-pipe/exhaust & the 3.7 mani/3.7tb

Take off the X when you search it...
The topic in that thread is pretty logical if you're gonna go with just the throttle body is better to to both 3.7 manifold/3.7 throttle body.. If you just put the throttle body you would cause "turbulence" it would be best to match bore the outlet (the back) of the throttle body and the opening of the manifold to get it's full effect
