Well I been looking for this answer for awhile. The xlr8 and atlp catbacks have me the most intrigued. I want my tl to sound mean as possible without having to worry about emissions test. I'd also like to put a xlr8 j pipe on too. I know there are three cats will I have to delete any of them for what I want? And if I do what's the consequences. I'm not really worried though as long as I can pass emissions. Btw completely stock as of right now.

no cat back exhaust will delete your third cat. As for the j pipe u get the xlr8 v2 which that one deletes the 3rd cat but you can go with the xlr8 v1 and keep that 3rd cat. And as for emissions i have a j pipe n catback an still pass emission testing in IL

As long as they don't do a visual inspection you should be fine. I know someone who has no 3rd cat and still passes emissions.

You should be able to pass emissions. do some research and google it because there are a lot of threads already about this issue.
