if you're stock you dont need a high performance fuel injector.

some folks use 1G RDX injectors... or modified RDX ones that can go higher if needed. I believe max you'll need for 425WHP in FI is about 560CC injectors with 93 octane. Running E85 or other fuels may require larger ones. I believe bosch makes up to 1300CC if needed for high HP builds.

EDIT: Wow just reread and saw you are pretty much stock. As you know getting HP/$ is expensive and you have a long way to go before you need new "performance" injectors. To use any of those injectors you'll need a tune and Hondata is at least $700.

no no, you dont need to. there's absolutely no need to. you're gonna get worse performance if you "upgrade" .
the stock engine has adequate injector flow for your needs...

the only time you "upgrade" to a larger flowing injector is when you supercharge or turbocharge...and since you havent done neither, you wont benefit from a larger flowing injector.

consider that I am fully bolted on and I STILL dont need to upgrade my injectors...

Not disagreeing that the stock injectors are enough for this car na but does anyone know why the 07-08 came with slightly bigger injectors than 04-06 and type s even bigger? Been thinking of trying some from the junkyard just to see although don't think it would really do anything but curious why they upgraded throughout the years

What do you think you will accomplish by upgrading fuel injectors?

The 07 and 08 type s have different fuel injector part numbers... which is strange. I don't know why though.

2004-2008 base models all share the same part # for injectors though.

perhaps a bigger engine (3.5 vs 3.2) need a larger flow!

going back to the basics; air, fuel, spark! a larger engine would need more air, would need more fuel!

I understand the type s being a j35 but I remember reading a thread a few weeks back about injector size and I think 04-06 were 280cc and 07-08 were like 290-300 and type s were 310cc I don't remember if these are exact number just off the top of my head

Just checked and part numbers are the same so I guess whoever shared that info was wrong. Theoretically though if you have intake mods to suck in more air and you upgrade to type s injectors I believe you would get a tiny bit more fuel so there would equal a slight hp gain right?

using a flow calculator:
https://fuelinjectorclinic.com/flow-calculator

it shows a minimum of 280cc for my car...I used 6 cylinder, 43psi fuel pressure(not sure what stock TL fuel pressure is, I just used default calculator pressure), 250Wheel horsepower(this is how many horsies I'm putting down) and 90% duty cycle(default calculator)...So Acura was right on the money with determining fuel injector sizes

So you could possibly benefit from larger injectors? Why so low hp for fbo? Is you manifold and throttle ported? Lightweight crank pulley? I've just never seen that low for fbo but haven't soon too many I should be there soon myself

a type-s can hit about 280wheel horsepower FBO...
without forced induction, these cars cant make that much power.

a comptech supercharger will only hit 300 wheel horsies...Horrible gains.

I_love_Cars spent about $15-20k on head work, cam work and still only made about 300 wheel horsies naturally aspirated.
just looked, he had a fully built 6MT type-s that put down 320 wheel horsies....not good for the money he spent

I used the calculator to punch in 280wheel horspower for a type s...the calculator spit out 310cc.
without forced induction, it seems at 90% duty cycle Acura chose the correct injector sizes for the car.

one can always data log to see what the fuel duty cycle is...most likely not even close to 90%

here's a snap shot of one of my logs.

Throttle is at 100% at 6747 RPM doing 87MPH and duty cycle is only at 87%, not even close at maxing it out.

oh I thought you were manual I guess that makes more sense I still expected closer to 260 but I guess every car and Dyno is a little different.

If it matters,

I put down 334 HP & 285 TQ (supercharged with bolt on mods) using the 3-5 PSI pulley, STOCK injectors, STOCK fuel pump and comptech ACM. My fuel pressure regulator is crushed. I'm not disclosing that it's the most ideal setup, but I have been boosted for 8+ years now and only using 93 - 100 octane. Being N/A and stock, your injectors are perfect.
For myself, I can't justify spending another 3K+ for injectors, fuel pump, hondata, adapter harness, type-s ecu and a dyno tuning to gain another 20-30hp? It's not worth the cost for the little I use the car.

I wish they would bring back the comptech supercharger it perfect for someone who just wants a little more power without all the problems. I look all the time but usually too far away for me there is an acm for sale on eBay right now though

A lot of people knock the comptech kit, but for what it is, it's not a terrible kit at all. Can you hit 400 HP? Sure can, but with a proper tune, proper fuel setup and with the high boost pulley with all the supporting mods (6MT ONLY). Is it worth the cost to get there? No, not in my honest opinion. The comptech kit allows you to keep all your stock features without giving up something. No need to buy another bumper for a front mount intercooler. No need to loose the A/C compressor or now to retro fit one. It has it's advantages and disadvantages. Truth is, how many current 3rd gen TL owners are going to boost them? Nearly none. I've always said, I never supercharged my TL to have the most HP/TQ bragging rights. It was something I wanted to do and enjoy. It's rare to run into a 3rd gen TL that's boosted. Most don't expect it and I'm not too worried about 90% of the other 3rd gen TL's out there. I'm not too concern about the kid who did a stage 1,2,3,4,5 exhaust system with an intake will walk me. I know what my TL is capable of. It's not a high performance sedan, but it's fun to drive and the additional power over stock is night vs day. It makes the car feel more current to what's out there, but it's not M340i killer. I made great numbers for running the kit out of the box. In fact, I think I've made the most claimed gains with simple bolt on mods as is installed. MAS still holds the record at 390 HP with the comptech kit. If you do find one, make sure the kit is complete. That's the biggest draw back to these kits, missing parts.

I am currently running 550cc injectors from a R35 Gtr. I wired in the pigtails and this is paired with an aeromotive 340 pump. But I’m supercharged. As mentioned above unless you have forced induction you do not need bigger injectors. You would also need a tune to dial the bigger injectors in even if you decided to go ahead and get them. I will upgrade mine if I decide to run more boost, but other than that 550cc will get the job done. Stock should be plenty for full bolt ons.

I think if the kit was still around there would be a lot more boosted tl's. The gerzybear kit is cool and makes good power but your almost 6k where the comptech kit was 3500 for everything I at least know I would be boosted. I've been looking into the m90 but don't exactly like it sticking out of the hood

The gerzy bear kit costed me around 4600 with everything included except for pre cat deletes and hondata. Fuel injectors, pump, and all of the other goodies were included. It’s a good deal when you factor in the cost of the head unit. It starts at $2k or so alone. I guess it doesn’t seem like that much when you get in to it and buy the extra stuff here and there. That’s with any project though. Gerzy kit was worth it imo, everything fit perfectly and went smooth. It was the most headache free install I have ever done on any car.

yeah I was factoring in al large extras you need not a bad deal but for the money I'd rather do it on another platform that's more capable that I also like.
or even do a custom turbo setup at that point if your willing to do some work although I know super barbers are preferred on this platform because it's easier on the drivetrain.

I understand. I made this my new project after selling my turbo hatch. I also have a c6 that I toy around with as well. The money I spent on the tl could have easily went to a blower and cam on the c6 and I could have made an easy 700whp or so. But I honestly don’t want to go that deep on the c6 yet and the tl isn’t my daily so I figured I’d let it be the new all out project for me. Once I got to looking in to those rotrex units it was a go for me when I saw that you can make 500-600 with the exception of doing rods, pistons, and valve train with the rotrex. So far I’m still on sbe so I’ll be keeping it around 400 or so. But I plan to turn it up as time goes on.

Oh yeah I completely understand if you've got other cars. I it's not my daily but I'm only 18 so trying to save the boost money for the next build but a 400hp tl would be pretty cool

yeah I understand. I’m looking at eventually upgrading from the c38-81 to either the 92 or 112 in the future. More power, but like you said the biggest downside is the actual costs of those head units alone. Keep stacking that boost money up until you decide what platform or build you want to do. Nothing wrong with that, planning is one of the most important steps of a build.

^ you also loose a/c with the rotrex kit, no? I know Gerzy was working a work around for that.

^ yep you can use and electric compressor and use custom cut/made A/C lines.

yep initially, but after you get everything squared away with the kit you can add ac back by turning the s brackets that hold the intercooler around to angle it straight up and down so that the condenser will fit back in between the intercooler and radiator. To fit all 3 items though you would need to have the crash bar removed in the front and get a custom one made up for it. If not then the intercooler would not be able to go completely straight up and down. Get a slim fan and buy the electric proair compressor. After you do all that you have to have the lines that would go to the belt driven compressor extended to the proair unit. Wire the unit in and you’re good to go. Seems like a lot of work, but it’s possible if you must have ac. I recommend getting the rotrex installation squared away first and then tackling that ac project afterwards at another time. I planned on doing it, but I honestly don’t think I’ll get around to it any time soon.
