yay! finally got the Sony Ericsson P990i to work with HFL...
the only difference was the firmware, decided to update it, paired it again and everything is functional.
problem before: incoming call doesn't show number, only incoming call while being in a call would show number.
fixed after firmware update: Caller ID is displayed when it is available
problem after update: Might drop calls when "call is waiting"
for all you people having problem with SE Phones, do use Sony Ericsson Update Service and see if it helps.

I wasn't aware that there was an issue with the P990i. I have one and it has worked great on my 06 TL for the past 5 months. I just started experiencing the dropped calls during call waiting. Thanks for the heads up.

I will have to try the update service with my W300i. The signal strength and battery
level show in the MID, but my call is not automatically transferred from the W300i to
the HFL.

Nice. Thanks for the heads up.
I was checking out the instructions at the Sony Ericsson Update Service website. Seems like you need a USB cable, like the DCU-60 USB cable, to do this.
Anyone have any success doing the update via Bluetooth?
