XM to Sirius
i emailed sirius about converting my TL 04 system to them, the reply was better than I thought, but does anyone here know more specifics about if it really works??
Thanks,
That's a great question! At SIRIUS, we appreciate the time you have
taken to contact us regarding your XM equipment. In addition to using
different satellite frequencies, Sirius and XM use different audio encoding technologies and security mechanisms. We regret to inform you that it is not possible to re-engineer an XM system to receive Sirius.
However, we recently announced a new signal translation device at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention & Exposition in Las Vegas, that enables owners of satellite-ready radios to receive SIRIUS.
The special translator module from SoundGate, in conjunction with a SIRIUS tuner and antenna, allows the SIRIUS signal to be played over any in-dash satellite-ready radio. The SoundGate adapter also has the ability to allow other, non satellite-ready radios to receive SIRIUS?
100% commercial free music, plus news, entertainment and play-by-play
sports without having to buy new radios. The estimated retail price of
the SoundGate translator, including the SIRIUS tuner and antenna, is $149.99.

great info - thanks!
I wonder how this thing will actually work. at least the TL's XM antenna is buried under the roof "nub" so I imagine (hope) you can stick the Sirius one there. The tuner piece concerns me - and DAMNIT, I'd want a little doggie logo to replace my ((XM)) logo button :-)

looks like no TL support!
I emailed soundgate asking for information on the model for the TL and received this response:
"Our interface will not work in the TL, it has some operational problems and is only designed for the Accord and the TSX right now. Sorry CHET."
Their website shows TL support via the SNHOND3, but it looks like it has issues.
