Windshield GPS mount is illegal in CA
I just got a fix ticket for mounting GPS navigation on windshield. I'm looking for a place to re-mount my GPS. Does anyone have any idea, where I should mount it?
Anyone has pictures?

Its a lame law and unfortunately, most GPS manufacturers only provide a windshield mount for their units.
There are several mounting options available on eBay: floor mounts, AC vent mounts, and dash mounts. Just search for your model of GPS unit.
I purchased this for my gf to mount her Magellan Roadmate 800. This is a floor mount (some images I borrowed from an auction on eBay):

Did you get pulled over only because of that ? If so that's really lame to get pulled over for something like that as a primary violation. I could see that as a "tack on" if it was for something else or if you had the thing right in front of you on the windshield.
Check these out. http://www.kudausa.com I almost got one for my iPod but decided not to in the end. I just leave the iPod on the passenger seat of center console. They seem to match the interior nicely and require no drilling or anything.

My nuvi is mounted high in the dash near the center vent (left/center). I'm using the proclips which cost $60 (dash piece and nuvi/ball piece).
I contemplated the lower radio position but it's too low and might be unsafe since you have to take your eyes off the road. Been using it for 2 wks now and I absolutely love it.
No problem with glare and very easy to reach/operate while driving. Finally, it's very easy to remove when I want to take it off. I'll take a pic when I get a chance.

Viewed from the driver's side. Notice that the clock is in clear view. The vent is slightly blocked but you won't notice it. High enough so you don't take your eyes off the road and easier to program while driving. Again, no problem with glare.
From passenger side and antena extended to 90 degrees.
The Proclip is extremely sturdy. No vibrations. The vents move freely and there is no chance that it can be damaged by the clip.
Remove the Nuvi and this is what's left. I haven't had a chance to work on hiding the power cord. Right now I'm running the power from the cigarette plug to the back of the center dash up the left toward the vent. Even as it is now, you don't see much of the exposed cord either. I love this thing.

I just got a Nuvi 360 and I want to mount it at eyes level without using the suction cups. I have a 2003 TL and the only proclip I see mounts it just to the right of the radio. I don;t think the vent clips will work because of the how my vents tilt vertically and them seem to be very narrow.
Anyone mount one of these on an older model TL?
Thanks for the help.
