I have an opportunity to pick one up at a good price right now as the CD portion of mine finally crapped out after 10 years.

the back of the radio unit has changed.

there is an addition of an extra clip or the clip design has changed

Do those clip changes make putting it in impossible, or do I have to get new clips?

if you search Ebay; you can see the differences on the back of the radios.
ebay will have multi angled images for you to compare.

the 07-08 radio is def. different. or has a different connector.
if you want to splice, go ahead!!

I need a solution too as the cd changer in my 04 crapped out on me as well. I think it can be done if you can get the factory wiring pinout for that harness, and get a universal connector with the same amount of pins. Then de-pin the old harness and re-pin into the new connector that will fit the 07-08 stereo.

The door to the tape player has a code on it and it needs to match. It's on the upper right on the door.

07-08 uses a new navi system so you'll have to swap out some components. Member Psheu did this on his TL a while back. You can search for it here to see how involved it was!
