Who has upgraded their nav disc to v4.92 and is happy?
I'm currently running disc version 4.62 on my 08 TL-S. I'm trying to get some advice before I drop $100+ on the new white disc.
Just FYI, I live in upstate NY, not in a big city like NYC or anything (not sure if these disc updates focus on updating POI's and streets in large cities). Regardless, I'm pretty dissatisfied with the performance of the current POI database. For example, on black Friday, my wife and I were looking for the nearest Toys R Us, and the closest one the nav could suggest was in Texas. Even with the oldest version disc (which mine isn't), surely it should've been able to find another store between NY and TX. Searching for POI's by category (sorted by distance) seems to work decent, but searching for POI's by name has a 90% fail rate in my experience.
So my first question is, how old is version 4.62? I assume that most people who have upgraded to version 4.92 have done so because their previous version wasn't performing up to par. So of those who have upgraded, has version 4.92 alleviated any of your problems?

I have the 2011 Nav. DVD and I'm ok with it... the streets that the old DVD didn't have the new one still doesnt have it... but w.e I'm content with it nontheless.. the only annoying thing with it, to me, it takes longer to upload in startups and there's fkn white dots every so often on the map for no fkn reason!

Well that's not reassuring. What are the white dots you're referring to? Are they like false POI's or something, or some kind of blank spots in the map?
Something else I noticed: On my last road trip from VA to NY, I was traveling north up I-81 and my Nav had me pinpointed about 1/8 of a mile to the west of the highway (not on any road) and it was tracing my path with a dotted line. After about an hour it finally re-calibrated itself (I guess) and found me on the correct road. I'm curious if the 2011 disc would prevent a glitch like this or not...

I have the new disc, and it si fine. To be honest, I haven't noticed any difference between it and my old disc, other than the obvious... new streets are now mapped.
Other than map updates, I'm not sure if there were any improvements.
For 99 bucks, it was worth it to me.

The white dots refer to unmarked roads. I turned that off on mine. I noticed that it does take a bit longer to load and every once in a while it has a hard time finding where I am. It auto corrects itself after about 10-15 seconds but sometimes it's a pain when you're trying to find a destination. Also it sometimes is off a bit but will fix itself.

I got the new white disc and I'm not happy with it coming from the 4.62 disc. I got it because of the deal they were giving but something's dont appear to be good sometimes. The disc navi's me sometimes longer then it should. I could punch in a address that's literally 5min's away from me and it'll take me on a tour instead. I wish I didn't buy it. I would like to go back to my old disc but for me to do that I would have to send in the entire navi unit to get reset which is not worth it at all. I gotta call them to see if it's just a messed up disk or something.

I'm fine with my new disc. Cuban, you might be searching the wrong way for your destination. If you put in McDonald's, then you'll get one of their restaurants a long ways away. If you go to restaurants and then enter McDonald's, you'll get the ones closer to where you are.

i paid $99 for my 4.92 disc and absolutely love it over the original 4.55 i had. faster, more streets and a hundred times more POI's than before. well worth the cash if you ask me.

I purchased the disk a couple of weeks ago and everything seems to load faster. Also, I agree with the issue to the navi sending you to a poi in another state. It searches for the one closest to you now. Overall, well worth the price.

The $99 promo has ended, its back to the regular price of $185 on Acura's Navigation website.
Love the new disk though, finally detects my Condo where I live.

Easy to eject the DVD from the unit in the trunk. Probably available via the menu, but I'm not sure where. Mine was from 2006. New one has updated Zagat and some local roads. Can't say it's much better, but I feel better knowing I have the latest one. Seems to boot a few seconds slower.
