Where to buy?

I have a 2006 TL with Navi, which utilized the old "orange disc" to show maps. Since these maps were discontinued in 2014, I wanted to "upgrade" my navi to the 07-08 TL system that utilizes the still produced "white disc" DVDs.

Well.. I bought an 07-08 Navi drive from a member on AZ, however, the sucker got damaged in shipping. The drive worked, but you could clearly see the corner got hit hard during shipping (looked like the packing moved) and subsequently some of the plastic bits and springs for the disc loading mechanism were broken.

No biggie. I ordered another disc drive unit off aliexpress (not the whole drive, just the part that loads/ejects/reads the discs). Well after 6 weeks, it arrived from China, only to have my tenant's dog chew the thing before I was able to install it, and once again breaking some of the plastic bits inside. Gah! I still tried to make it work, but ended up at the same point.

So I ordered yet another one... waited another 6 weeks... only to open up the entire navi drive again, to see the connecting cable damaged. Gah!! I just want my dash to work again!! It seems after being opened up and closed a half dozen times, the cable ended up compromised along the way.

I'm at the point of considering dropping several hundred dollars on a used DVD drive, just to have my car working again.. or.. I can try to order the damaged cable for a fraction of the price and hopefully finally get the navi system working again. My problem is- where do I find this cable?

I've typed in the code on it, but it just brings up a plethora of various cables, with various amounts of pins, and in various lengths. The pins are so small on the cord, I'm not even able to really count them, though it appears to be over 40 pins, from a rough count. Does anyone know where I can buy this thing?

Also- I'm not interested in doing a hack job tablet install or anything of the likes. I just want the car and all the buttons on the screen and dash to work as intended. I'm looking to sell the car in the not too distant future and I'd rather keep everything as original as possible.

Some photos of what I'm looking for:
This is what I'm looking for.

hmmm.. I didn't think about zooming in on the end and taking a picture.. much easier to count the pins. 50 Pins in total, if my counting is correct.

The damage... you can see the top and bottom edges are severed... i'd guess maybe 5 or 6 pins are now not able to connect

about 18-19cm long. This thing is much longer than it needs to be. I'm sure I could get away with something at least 12cm long.

Oh, and I've googled the code: Sumitomo-Y "AWM 2896 80C VW-1 -F-" and a ton of different cables come up. I thought the code would pertain to just this one, but that isn't the case at all.

Why not just put the stock unit back? Or does that not function?

I think fate is telling you it's not worth it to keep going for the 07/08 drive/disc

It would require good amount of work and luck to find cable with same spec. It would also come from China, and usually you need to order like 100 of them. Plenty of spares, right?
Some companies offer to do custom cables, but again, you would need to order at least 100 of them.

Something like:

Your best bet is to get another drive. If you happen to find broken drive for less money it would be a win.

Also, what is the chance what radio's DVD drive uses same cable? I have broken radio somewhere in the basement.

because I sold off the 2014 disc, to buy the 2017 disc. I really don't want to go back to the 2014 disc. A good portion of the north end of my city doesn't even exist on it. Annoying AF.

There are, but the TL is still considered modern enough that it isn't at the cheap, pull your own parts type of wrecker. I'd have to go to one where they pull all the parts out and still charge a pretty penny for parts. I'd be shocked if I could get a 10 year old dvd drive for less than $400

I didn't quite understand this- are you asking if there's a chance the same cable is within the actual radio itself? Maybe, but I kind of doubt it, to be honest.

I looked at that link and I think that cable is close, but not exactly what I'm looking for. At the bottom, it states "Common Type: A, B, C, D, E, G, H, I". I think I need an "F" which they don't show. What worries me then is paying $50 bucks for a hundred of these and finding out that they might not even be correct

I'm trying to say that you should rather look for another drive, because buying only the cable has too little chance to work.
