What is this plug for?

So, I ripped out my front center console again, to fix some of my wiring from my non navi to navi install and came across this plug.. Just wondering what it is for.. Looks like it could be used as another Accessory power source..

The white plug with the blue tape is the one I am wondering about. This plug is taped to the 12 volt power source located in the compartments by the shifter..

Let me know!

Could be for the light... For instance some cars have a light up ring around the power point when lights are on.

That should be an illumination plug. Some models have a lighted ring around the cig lighter hole. The illumination wire color is RED/BLACK which is 12 volt when parking lights on and it should also have a ground in the plug as well.

Cool.. anyone got pics of this? So, if we wanted to have some sort of underdash lighting we could plug into this wire and have them turn on every time we turn on the headlights? OOOhhh.. how convenient.. well, here comes another mod.. I went to discount auto parts and noticed they had a ton of cheap led strips on sale.. may have to try this.. even easier since there is a plug for it already!! Going to find a female plug to make it factory too..

it could be the light for the A/T shift bezel. when the parking lights get turned on the shift bezel would light up also. we dont have light up rings around our cigarette lighters. i will go look and see, i removed my shift bezel and put in a shift boot for a cleaner look in my A/T. I will get back to you about that

I just looked and i could be wrong. But they may have done diff things in differant years. I cant get completely into the console but on mine i founf the ligh wire and it goes into that area and joins up with the wires that goes to the armrest part of the center console.

So, I decided to do some foot well lighting!! My gfs is250 has it.. so I HAD to do it! I used this plug to get switched power.. its cool because the foot well lights/accent lights I have only turn on when I turn on the headlights/corner lights..

DIY and pics to come.. Hopefully this weekend!
