"Beyond AM. Beyond FM. It's XM - Radio to the Power of X." -- http://www.xmradio.com/corporate_inf...acts_cons.html
It's just a catchy term that means nothing, just like the initialism DVD.
Just learned that as of May 2004, Honda owned 13% of XM. Guess that explains why Sirius isn't an option! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XM_Satellite_Radio
Cheers,
Jason

Companies can charge whatever they want for whatever they want. It's what's called capitalism. If you don't like it, you have the absolute freedom to not pay for it. The difference between $100/ year and $130/year is so irrelevant, I cannot begin to describe it. I'm paying $3.00/gallon for Premium gas in my TL, and that's substantially more annoying to me.
Oh, by the way, a rapist is someone who commits a violent crime against women. You can complain about that type of person.

Actually, rape has multiple definitions (and "committing violent crimes against women" is not one of them):
Main Entry: rape
Function: noun
1 : an act or instance of robbing or despoiling or carrying away a person by force
2 : unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against the will usually of a female or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent
3 : an outrageous violation

Exactly. I think outrageous violation is in order here since we can't freely change between Sirius and XM. Some peckerwoods have no clue what they are talking about anyway.

And once again, the cost is not that high. I have been using XM radio since 2001, and I don't believe there have been any cost increases until this one. It's tiny, and I still believe I'm getting a GREAT value. Getting MLB, any game, cannot be valued properly by me. ESPN Radio, Air America, an Uncensored Comedy Channel, all allow me to pass the time on long commutes or being stuck in LA traffic.
Sirius costs the same as XM, so it becomes a matter of taste. If you hate baseball and love football. If you want the original NPR. If you like lower bit rates. Those are the reasons to want Sirius.
I know people who think the Sirius music channels are better. You can go to the XM boards and find people who strongly prefer the XM music.
The point is you value Sirius more for the same price as XM. I prefer XM, although to be honest, if Acura only had Sirius, it wouldn't have mattered at all to me.
I just don't think calling XM a bunch of rapists is very productive, since by your definition, I think Sirius is over priced. But I don't. I find the difference between the two as being very very slight.
