What am I doing wrong? USA Spec install
Hi all, so I thought it would be great to have my iPod connect to my car directly instead of through the AUX. This is my adventure.
I have an 08 TL Type S. Its Canadian if that matters.
I went online and bought a USASpec PA15 ACU xL unit that apparently worked with TLs from 2007-2008... it comes in, I remove the carpeting from my trunk and get to my XM unit and it turns out to be the wrong connector type... Whatever I return it.
Next, I purchase a USASpec PA15 HON3 unit that works with TLs from 2004-2006... This thing plugs in behind the head unit, an hour later its all hooked up and hidden yet accessible for troubleshooting and it works.
tldr... the dip settings only allow the thing to work in CD changer mode (2,3,4 on) only, so there's no text. if I set the dip switches to 3 only or 3 and 4 only my audio button stops working...
also my iPhone 4 randomly says its charging or this accessory is not supported, but that is resolved by jiggling the cable

Just an update, I read the instructions over, apparently you are supposed to take out any CDs in the system before starting... there was one CD in there when I started. I tried unplugging the unit, turning on the car, taking out the cd, turned it off, plugged the unit back in, turned the car on, no go .
