Wendy's camera question

I just received a rear view camera from Wendy like the one shown in Datmrman's https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139696 The camera's extension wire is about 20 feet long, much longer than I need for connection to the Dom's switcher near the navigation unit. I am reasonably proficient with a soldering iron. Is there a compelling reason that I should not cut the Wendy's camera power and video extension cords to the length I need and then resolder the fuse holder back in place and the RCA connector back onto the video cable? Thank you in advance for your advice.

Has anybody installed the newer 2006 model of Wendy's camera and have pics? I did a search and most people were skeptical to try. Thanks guys!

I use a ziptie to tie up the slack...

since it's under the trunk lid liner no one will see it anyway.
