Voice recognition

I love my 07 TL w/navi. But I find it easier to use the touch screen rather than the voice recognition.

Out of curiosity, do you use the voice rarely, occasionally, or always?

Rarely for navigation, but the voice recognition seems to work pretty well when I do use it in searching by "category" mode.

Rarely. It works fine as far as I can tell. I think generally we're all used to pushing buttons and turning knobs to make stuff happen.

IOW - using voice commands needs to be made a habit, then you'll use it more often.

i never use it, mostly because when i do try to change the station it never gets the right one...i say something like xm channel 41 and i get xm channel 21 or something to that nature...i have tried speaking clearly and everything, but it really only works right about a 1/3 of the time....

Timmahh, that's pretty funny. I've had a similar problem and posted about it some time back.

However, for some reason I cannot understand, as soon as I hit the Voice Command "Talk" button, my wife starts talking. This does not occur when I am driving alone; only when my wife is in the car.

Does anyone know if there is a way to Mute my wife when I activate the Voice Command Talk button?

Any and all adivce is welcome.

TIA.

You might imagine, my attempted command plus whatever the wife is saying confuses the hell out of the car. Who knows what command it'll decide it just heard - "Driver Airbag, Deploy" - who the hell knows.

I say, "Honey. Sugar. Sweety-Pie, you are the love of my life and the mother of my children, but please DO NOT TALK when I'm talking to the F'n car."

3 seconds later - "Talk", "beep" - yap, yap yap.
