Video "NOISE" when using Nav2go..or similar

Every Nav module I've used in any car I've had I get video noise on the screen. For those of you who don't know what I mean. I mean lines that either roll up and down the screen or static. Anyone know the resolution to this problem? I bought a $40 inline composite video filter and that didn't do jack poop. I also grounded the nav unit itself to the body of the car..still nothing. Any help would be appreciated

What video source are you using when the lines are there? Video noise happens quite often when the source is not getting enough power. I see this a lot when people are using a game system with a power inverter that is too small.

The noise on the screen is caused by the monitor updating. the factory navi has a 15 hertz refresh rate vs. the normal 60 for computer monitors. You will be more prone to be seeing them.

I see the lines on my screen when my backup camera is on..also I have a slim ps2 with the 12volt car adapter so I'm not using a power inverter...any ideas?

The interference that you're refering to is normal and not usually noticed as static, fuzz or an abnormal interuption. Noticeable lines through a 12 volt video display are caused by the actual video source having issues. These issues are caused by low voltage, low current or signal interference. If it's the factory NAV screen's fault you would have video noise on every source including the radio and map screens.

Refering just to the radio and map screens, the factory navi broadcasts in 15 hertz signals, but the input's to dom's and other do not slow the signal down to 15 hertz as far as I know.

Yes. A 12 volt player is built to work correctly in vehicles and has the correct filters and signal conditioning to eliminate any noise in the video output. With the correct player and install you shouldn't have any noise in your video display.
