Wattage really doesn't matter as far as loudness or a good system is concerned. The TL's stereo gets moderately loud and then sort of levels off in terms of loudness. After about 32 it starts getting a bit distorted. If you want louder your probably going to need new speakers and amplifiers.

It depends on what source you are using, FM sounds shitty all the time. XM sometimes has low bandwidth and pisses me off. Listening to a quality CD or a DTS Disk just makes the system amazing.

That sums up Bose. Probably the all time best marketing and the worst product. The HT guys won't even let you say that name around them. Overpriced and no performance.

As to the total wattage, it's not much. I have no idea how they rate the system and if they adhere to the standard but the claimed 225w is pushing it. If I remember right, the stock 6.5" have a max power rating of 15 or 25w stamped on the back of the system. Most factory speakers are more efficient than aftermarket so adding aftermarket speakers without doing an amp will result in less SPL.

I've only recently learned the value in speaker efficiency and why they have the potential to sound better than less efficient speakers. My two efficient 15s combined require half the power that I was running to a single 12" before.

There's a lot more to output than the factory rated total watts. You have speaker efficiency, total speakers, and the power ratings are usually very optimistic. If the TL actually put out 100w to the sub, I could run my 15s off the factory amp but that's not happening. Anyone who has added even a small sub to the factory amp has had major output issues.

Yeah, the stereo on the TL sounds decent at lower volumes but lacks when you really want to turn it up.

I totally agree that The FM quality is horrible, even near the city I barely get a good signal and the sq isn't great.

Anyway to make the FM signal stronger or clearer as I listen to the radio a lot?
