Type S Amp Replacement

Long story short...does anyone know if the factory '07 Type S ELS amp can be replaced? How much is it or can it be replaced with aftermarket units and still retain Bluetooth functionality, etc.? What are my options?

I think my amp is dying. It started as a infrequent problem, but now it is constant. Every time I turn on the radio, the front speakers shut off and I just have the rears working. My only explanation is the amp. In the past I had replaced all the speakers and added a sub w/amp. But everything has been working beautifully for years until now.

Help.

The signal coming from the head unit has the bluetooth and navi (if equipped) already built in. The amp can be replaced.

You could either go completely aftermarket, or just buy a used TL amp from a junkyard.

Before you can get a lot of help, some people will need to know a budget and your goals.

If you have stock speakers and are happy with that, just pick up a junkyard amp. Otherwise you need 6 channels and will be giving up trunk space for amps. If you've gone to the trouble of aftermarket amps, you might as well do speakers at that point.

We'll I already replaced all the speakers to Infifnity Kappas 2ohms, they really work well with the stock amp. So, I am fine with replacing the OEM amp with another OEM. I thought maybe it would be hard to find an OEM amp or expensive. That a aftermarket would be easier and better.

Anybody have a stock amp for sale? Or now of a good replacement?

An aftermarket will be better for sure, but by the time you install and get 6 channels I'm sure a used part will be cheaper. Call around to a few salvage yards in your area. TL parts should be common and the amp is something probably rarely damaged in a crash.

Junkyard amp is the only direct replacement. Aftermarket amp could work with new wiring, location and all of the rest. Nobody makes an amp that you can just plug into the 3G TL harnesses.

There's a few decently cheap 6-channel amps on the market that will give you more than the factory amp. Not sure how much a factory amp would cost though. I guess then you'd get into having to find an amp that accepts balanced. You might be better just finding a salvage factory amp haha...
