Two phones - two SIM cards?
Two phones - two SIM cards?
I currently use a Motorola MPx200 phone as my only phone. If you are familiar with the MPx200 it doesn’t have Bluetooth, but just about everything else. With that in mind, I would love to be able to continue to use this phone, but would like to use my old Bluetooth capable Sony Ericsson T68i phone while in the car.
My desire would be to get another SIM card to use in my old T68i while in the car and then use the MPx200 for everything else (so I don’t have to constantly remove the SIM from the MPx200 and put it in the T68i). Essentially, while in the car I turn off my MPx200 and turn on my T68i and vice versa while out of the car. This way I have one phone number and get the functionality I am looking for out of both phones, just not at the same time. Make sense?
Does anyone know if this will work or not? When I stopped by the AT&T store at my local mall the other day, the sales guy had no clue what I was talking about so I’m hoping one of you really smart people can set me straight.
Thanks!

It will not work. Only one SIM card per number. You have to remove the SIM card everytime you want to switch phones.
I tried doing the same thing because I have 2 bluetooth phones w/ AT&T and was told I couldn't because their system allows only one SIM per card.

i don't know about other people, but i know with t-mobile you can get 2. when you renew your contract you can get another sim card that is exactly the same. if you have t-mobile they allow 2 sim cards per customer. i know this because my friend has already done this. switch service haha

Technically it is not possible because each phone number has 1 "serial" number so to say which is the sim card number that identifies itself with the system you are calling with. If you have 2 sim cards with the same number, one of those sim cards must be inactive and is probably a backup from when your friend did a sim transfer. After doing a sim transfer, only the new sim card will be able to be used. Back to the original poster, like the other people said, gotta start practicing taking out your sim card.

There would be no way on this physical earth that it would be possible. LOL.... If someone has 2 sim cards and 1 phone number on each. When they make a call, it would just be a busy signal or something since the towers would not know which location to bill to what account, etc etc.

You are mistaken or have been misled. This not possible. The carrier must go into their system to assign the phone number to a particular sim serial#. It will only allow one.
