TL Subwoofer

Okay, I guess I might be alone on this for the most part, but I am a DJ -- all those nights in the booth probably left me deaf in both ears, but i am having a problem with my car.

That built in subwoofer it comes with, is just not doing it for me. The DVD Audio Surround for the ELS is i think a little ahead of its time, but not to digress, the subwoofer is just not cutting it.

Yea, i could quite possibly throw in a couple 12's in a box and call it a day, but then again, that sort of defeats the purpose of driving a "near luxury" class vehicle.

Question is, how can i get some real nice high end bass out of the car that i can feel in the front seat, by replacing that wanna be subwoofer in the back. I could amp it if necessary, and doesnt anyone know if the speakers in the car can handle more watts than whats running to them now --

Anyone that has audio mods on their car, please holla in this thread, i could use the help

thanks

I agree, the subwoofer is not doing it for me either! Maybe it's because I had two 10 inch subs with a 200 watt amp in my 98 VW Jetta that I'm "used" to but for a "luxury" car, the sound is not that impressive. Please don't get me wrong... I DO NOT want my TL to shake the car next to me but I want to be able to feel the bass without the music sounding like crap.

And I don't want to put subs in my trunk... they take up too much room.

If anyone could give some info on how to make the sound better, please respond. Thanks

I am not sure how the sub is set in the car but the same issue has come up with my SRT-10 and I placed some loose insulation from an audio store around the sub and it made a HUGE difference in the sound...Only had my TL a few days so I have not really looked at the sub to see if the same thing could be done.

you could make a fiberglass enclosure that bolts onto the bottom side of the rear deck with a 10" and fire it up through the hole where the factory sub is. this will allow you to keep much of ur trunk but would be some work. or u can replace the factory sub with a free air sub which i don't think sounds as good as an enclosed sub. i, being lazy just tossed in a single 12 in a small box and i've been more than pleased with it.

That 9" bose sub was made for Accurate Bass. Not Bone crunching quad. There isnt really much to this discussion. You either stay with the bose system or you throw an 18 in the trunk
