Telus - Motorola RAZR V3c - pairing issues?

Hi,

I recently acquired a Motorola RAZR V3c from Telus in Toronto and have not been able to pair it thus far (I'm new to Bluetooth). When I issue the 'phone setup' command, only the basic setup screen appears (clock etc.). The phone is on and the car was stopped.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

good luck with telus phones. cripped to the extreme.

When you go under bluetooth menu, do you see setup? then when u hit setup, do you see "FIND ME"?

The only reason I switched to Rogers is becuase Telus's Motorola V710 didn't wanna connect to TL.

Going to assume that the Telus branded V3c has the Motorola UI on it.

Here is what handsfreelink.com say to do. These are the exact steps i used for my Verizon V3c flashed to Alltel firmware, Start by opening the phone, hit the center menu button, go to the setting menu, go down to connection, go over to bluetooth, go to setup, go to power make sure its "on", go to "Findme" and make your device discoverable. Then start these instructions!

Motorola RAZR V3c Alltel & US Cellular Pairing Instructions: Print | Download PDF | Back

IMPORTANT: You must press and release the HandsFreeLink talk button on the steering wheel and wait for the beep before you speak. This step is required before all spoken commands.

Power on the phone and ensure Bluetooth® is ON. Please refer to your phone's user guide for steps to turn on Bluetooth.

Press and release the Talk button on the steering wheel and wait for the "beep" before you speak. Repeat this step before all spoken commands.

Say "phone setup"

Say "pair"

Say any 4-digit PIN code for pairing. Remember it as you will need to enter it into your phone later. HandsFreeLink will now instruct you to begin the pairing process in the phone.

Press the MENU button on the phone

Choose SETTINGS and press SELECT

Scroll to CONNECTION and press SELECT

hoose BLUETOOTH LINK and press SELECT

Scroll to HANDS-FREE and press SELECT

Scroll to LOOK FOR DEVICES and press SELECT.

HandsFreeLink should appear on the device list. Choose HandsFreeLink and press SELECT.

"BOND WITH HandsFreeLink"" will appear. Press YES.

Enter the 4 digit PIN from earlier step and press OK

When prompted, say the desired phone name

You should hear "pairing successful"

Depends on which "Firmware" your phone has. That depends on when you bought your phone.

You should read Telus' letter sent to one of people about bluetooth.

I'm sure Telus does not restrict their its phones more than Verizon. Either way their aren't many, (if at all) Motorola's that can't connect to the TL's handsfree link. As I understand they may remove the option for OBEX completely, but why would they remove the only other thing bluetooth is applicable for? But what does Telus disable on their bluetooth profiles?

Hi everyone. Thanks for the advice of everyone on this thread. Yesterday I made my inaugural call using HandsFreeLink. Its seamless operation is really impressive. I don't doubt that in the future, it will be a commonplace feature even on economy cars.
