Tape Deck Died?

2005 Acura TL. I've been using my tape deck to listen to my ipod. So, one day, it's working fine and the next it's not. I get in the car, plug in the ipod and nothing. The tape deck doesn't work, the car doesn't even recognize it. When I push the tape/disc button, it will go to CD's but that's it. I can not eject the tape adapter and the car seems not to recognize that it's there. So, any ideas? Thanks, jb

wow...I think im going to search my attic for my old mix tapes and see if mine works.

Ironically, my buddies 06TL suffered the same tape deck death right before thanksgiving.
He ended up buying an Isimple.

if you really want to have a working tape deck you have two options.

purchase an iSimple
or buy a new radio. I've seen the radios on eBay for about 150-200. At times they've sold for 50 bucks.

I would opt for the iSimple.

It didn't die, it went back to the nineties on vacation.

Cassette adapters of the sort you describe are notorious for causing tape players to wear out sooner than they should, though I've never understood why that happens.

No idea how to extract it if it won't eject.

Yep, the isimple is on my Christmas list, but I would really like to get that tape out. I'd hate to think of the stink as it decays!
