Tape Adapter vs. Direct Connect

Tape Adapter vs. Direct Connect
Does anyone have any good advice on how significant the difference is between a tape adapter for an iPod and going direct?
I recently bought a tape adapter and compared it to the same song in CD and the sound wasn't significantly different after adjusting the EQ settings on the iPod.
Tape's obviously the safer and easier way to go too.
Is there something I'm missing?

As far as sound quality is concerned, you should just do what sounds good to you. Technically, direct will sound better and measurements can prove a better transfer. Also, the cassette adapter may be more susceptible to interference due to the high-gain circuitry involved. But none of that matters if you're happy with the way it sounds.

I use the tape adapter for my mp3 player. I actually think the sound is louder and more powerful than actual radio. The only thing noticable is a slight sound coming from the tape adapter trying to play the tape.
