Post Suggestions: Quality system under a $G

Suggestions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Was thinking of replacing the factory sub with a free air sub if it would mount right. Don't want the congested trunk look so I was thinking this would be a good option. Also thought about removing the spare and customizing the trunk floor. IDK at this point don't want anything too crazy but a really clean look and sound. Suggestions anyone???? any and all feedback is welcome

Are you gonna be doing the install yourself, do you have experience installing? if your doing the install yourself you can get some pretty decent equipment for under $1000

Just for fun, here is an idea. Under $1G is tough, although DIYMAer's would argue that.

Keep stock HU - No reason for aftermarket, unless you don't have nav system and want one.

Keep stock amp to power your center channel and, if you want, your rear speakers. 95%+ of the car audiophiles I know do not run rear fill.

Purchase aftermarket amp to power front mids, tweets, and at a future date a sub.

Purchase Sound processing/EQ: Run HU to stock and aftermarket amps to sound processing unit. Then to either cross-over (passive system) OR directly to the speakers (active system)

Mids/Tweets: There are so many combos. Having clean power and EQ/sound processing as a foundation will make any mid/tweet you purchase sound better then a high $$ mid/tweet without clean power and EQ

Accessories: Dynamat/Sound Deadening, wiring, fittings, etc... People forget about this in budgeting. Sound deading alone can add up quickly.

After a quick search, here's a quality, low cost amp, and sound-processing unit...

Amp

650 AG ZAPCO AMP 6 Channels - $300-$350

I would use channels 1-4 to power the front mids and tweets and bridge channels 5 and 6 to power a sub sometime in the future.

Processing/Tuning

Rockford 360.2 w/ Remote Blue Tooth Enabled Tuning - $200.00 - $250

Good luck with your system

i just put a 10" arch audio sub w/ jl 250w amp in a 1cu ft enclosed box in the trunk. ran the power wire from battery(4guage) and simply cut the wire from the rear stock sub and spliced it with a good rca cable and ran it to the amp. it was cheap (260$-amp 180$-sub 80$-4g wiring kit 60$-box) and sounds absolutely amazin. pounds but still has great balance. plus can control the sub from headunit. just make sure to amp with signal sensing so it shuts off.
