Stuck Gas Gauge

Hello.

I purchased a used 08 TL recently and it's been very smooth, no issues.. till now. Before I state my first issue, I'd like to say this is my first vehicle, and I only got my license like two weeks ago so cars in general is something really new to me.. So sorry if I ask noob questions.

I filled up my tank to full today and during the process of turning on the vehicle, when I got to ON (II) I saw the gas gauge go halfway down, not all the way down like it's supposed to. After finding that strange, I started the car up again, then the gauge proceeded to go past the F point. Every time I start the vehicle, the pointer moves during the ON (II) stage, but gets stuck between the Full point and Parking point.

I'm not sure exactly what the issue is because when I check my Range of miles left with the gallons of gas I have, it shows a number, and properly goes down after driving a few miles. Furthermore, there is no service error that pops up on my information panel or anything indicating issues with the vehicle. I located the meter fuse which is #21 I believe but have no idea what to do after that lol

I would like to know what steps I need to take to resolve this issue without going to a mechanic. I mean yeah that'd be easier, but I'd like to learn how to fix this if possible.

TLDR: Gas gauge stuck between Full and Parking point. Please explain to this noob what tools I need and the process to bring it back to normal.

Thank you!

the point at which the needle rests while parked

Well just as an update I just continue driving the vehicle with no issues.. Although the pointer is at a different spot, I know when the gas is low by how much the pointer moves so it doesn't seem to be too much of an issue. On top of that I'm not getting any diagnostic codes or anything like that so I'll probably just get it fixed when I have to replace the fuel sending unit (if ever haha)

It's probably too early, but I don't really understand the issue.

Gauge is stuck between low and full position, right?

But is it stuck when going up (gas tank is full, key is off, gauge is at very bottom, you turn the key on, gauge goes halfway to full)
or
is stuck when going down? (key is off, gauge is in the middle) (or key is off, gauge is "parked" correctly, but with key on it never goes below middle position)

Initially it was stuck in between. Normally it’s supposed to go back down to “E” after you shut off the engine but it stuck around the middle and if tank was full, went past the “F” point. The needle’s new home is about 50 degrees to the right of the “F” point when there is no fuel (imagine the needle doing a 360 turn). When gas is full, it goes near where the “E” is supposed to be 😂
