Strange navi error, MDX and version 4.63

We were driving from Maryland to Massachusetts yesterday. Had the navi directions/routeing on. When we exited the NJ Turnpike and got on the Garden State Parkway the navi screen changed. The routing was cancelled/erased and a message appeared stating the the "Routing is incomplete. Please move to a new location and try again" or something similar to that. Any attempt to bring up the routing to our destination, or any other destination gave us the same error. We had to drive nearly 20 miles before we could get the routing to work again.

Any one had this happen before and/or know what to do about it?

Thanks

There should be an option within the setup section that allows you to tell it to show you a dotted line when you are in an incomplete area. I forget what its called though.

I know about the dotted line through unverified areas. I was on the Garden State Parkway, that is not an undefined, new or unknown area. I have an '03 TL with an older navi version and have never had an issue in this area before. I just thought that is was something that shouldn't have happened.

I've had that happen occasionally if I use a road that the Navi refuses to use for routings, such as I-66 inside the Beltway, Rock Creek Parkway in DC, or the I-95 HOV lanes in Virginia. On I-95 I've found that this usually happens going southbound near Woodbridge where the express lanes are some distance from the regular lanes, and the solution has been to wait until the road comes back closer together and then to hit "Menu" and to tell it to use whichever method (Direct Route, etc.) that I was previously using. It recalculates and I'm OK.

Don't know why that would happen on the Garden State Parkway, though. Mine didn't balk the last time I went up the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 11 and then went north on the Parkway towards the Thruway. Did it have the icon showing your position in the correct location? I'm thinking that perhaps something interfered with the GPS reception, the icon went off-line, and it couldn't figure out how to re-route (say, if it thought you were in the cemetery next to the Parkway just north of the Turnpike)?

No issues with the icon position. It tracked us on the Parkway the whole time.

Weird. I may use the NJ Turnpike–Garden State Parkway route later this summer when I drive to Portland, so if I have the same issue I'll try to remember to mention it here. (Depending on my mood I might use the I-78 to I-287 route instead.)

I think 4.62/4.63 is buggy. I hear 4.7 is out but not for sale at retail.

I forgot to update this thread. I did not use that route, but I had no problems with my Navi (the orange DVD, I think I have version 3.7) in the New York area.
