stock TL alarm mods?

I have heard of people modifying the stock alarm by adding glass break sensors, motion sensors etc, but I have not been able to find any threads that detail this type of mod. I do not want remote start, or pager notification or anything like that. I would just like to do some simple upgrades to the stock alarm system and keep my key fob and associated controls intact. Who has done this and how did you do it?

I got suckered into this at the dealership:

Karr EX-1 Factory Alarm Upgrade
Current Features of Your Factory System
  • Keyless Entry
  • Panic Remote
  • Flashing Parking Lights
  • LED Indicator
  • Dome Light Illumination
  • Electric Entry Points Protected

Features Added Upon Upgrade
  • Electronic shock sensor
  • Factory alarm trigger on shock violation
  • $2,000 1 yr. deductible reimbursement guarantee.
  • 3 yr. New car replacement guarantee.

Its an upgrade so I am still using the factory FOB.

Yeah datmrman, how much did it cost? I would definitely be interested in something like this. Just like pohljm, I'm not interested in remote start, pager notification or none of those sophisticated add-ons...I simply just want to add a glass and shock sensor to the OEM alarm...and keep my original acura key fob. If the price is right, I probably will be suckered into it as well.

The dealer (Cerritos Acura) did the install. They said that for most of their vehicles on the lot, this is already installed. For people that don't want it, they remove it. For the exact cost, I will have to go back and look that up. You know the dealership always overcharges anyway. I say estimated $400.

I just looked up the cost. $325

So I got suckered into paying $325 for $15 shock sensors, installed, and with warranty.

You want enlighten other members of where you can buy shock sensors for $15 and how they can be installed?

Damn...$325 for a $15 shock sensors. That's a pretty big rip off, but I'm not a very hands-on kinda guy so I'll probably have no choice...at least it comes with warranty. How long have you had it? Have you noticed any bugs with the system? I'm in the Washington Metropolitan Area, do you think there'll be any issues?

a 2 second searchon ebay found a DEI shock sensor http://cgi.ebay.com/DEI-Directed-Ele...QQcmdZViewItem for 16.00 shipped

all you need to do is tie it into the door open/close sensor. when the sensor goes off the alarm will think the door is opened, and your alarm will be set off.

on the sensor in that link you tie the blue and green wires together andsplice that into the door sensor. the black is ground, and red gets hooked to something that only powers up when the car is turned off(stock alarm has a wire that works like that) i did this on my 03 CL-S, and on my 05 TL, and it works perfectly. i don' remember if i used a diode or not

I just bought the DEI Hornet 727T off of ebay for $41 shipped. It adds the dual shock sensor and and the warning honks. It also turns the system into an active alarm system which automatically locks the doors if you forget to. You can still use the factory key fobs with this system. When I get it, I let you guys know how good it works.

Yea post how it works out!! ive been thinking about ordering that unit for several weeks now. Please post how hard it is to install and your review!! Ive read about it on the RSX fourm, and it seems like it utilizes the horn instead of an aftermarket siren, but im not sure.

I barely received the alarm unit today. Either very slow transit or slow sender. I'm hoping to install it this weekend. So far it looks good and I know it will integrate well. I also bought a backup battery, peizo siren, and a glass breakage detector. I will let you guys know how it went.

Sorry for the long delay. Yes, I eneded up getting it installed. it's a PITA. I couldn't, for the life of me, find a way to get through to the engine compartment for the siren. Half-way into the installation I realized that at the 2007 has an has its OEM alarm. I think you are better off getting a sound sensor that goes in your car along with a relay that shuts off the sensor when you turn on the car (so you won't get TRUNK OPEN messages when you sound sensor triggers). IMO, I don't think it's neccessary to go through the hassle of getting an alarm just for the shock sensor.

Unforturnaley, I didn't have my camera when I did the installation. Some of the wires are very hard to find and still haven't found them because I couldn't find any resources for the 07.

Sorry for my crappy post with no detail. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the installation.

BTW, I installed my alarm behind the backseat. I used lots of wires and it's very hidden.

I intend on adding a shock sensor to my car as well but I am not about to pay 3 to 4 hundred dollars for shock sensors. So if anyone has info on where to get this item and what price it would help a lot. Also please post up some tutorial on your install for this upgrade if any has done it themselves. Thanks
