Stock radio with JL W7 12

I have a JL W7 12 inch that i want to instal in my 04 TL. I do not want to change out the CD player because it is hooked to the navigation. How can I get it good sound with this setup? Is it possible, or do I have to switch out my radio?

and my radio just went out on me. i have to take it to the dealership to see whats wrong with it..

I'm not sure about simply swapping out the stock sub for an aftermarket (I'm sure this is has been done / discussed before - so you can search for that).

As far as the easiest way to to do it, w/o removing the stock set-up. From back in my car audio days...I'd say to use a line output converter. This will take the signal from the stock wires (which you'll have to tap into). A little shortcut (if you keep the fader set in the middle, or more to the rear) - tap into the speaker wires going to the rear speakers, in the trunk - this way you don't have to remove the head unit to splice into the wires. Then, just run your power, remote turn on, etc. for the amp and you'll be good to go.

I got a 12W6 used a line output converter connected after the sub amp. Removed the factory sub to allow a "port" and it works perfectly!! and the sub speaker wire is easily accessible if you remove the liner in the trunk that is right below the rear deck.

Steve basically said everything you need to do. But just tap into the factory sub wires that way you still have full control of sub
