step by step help using wavelab 5

I can usually fumble my way through software to get it to do what i need but this one has got me frustrated to the piont i need to ask for some help.

A friend of mine was nice enough to get me Wavelab 5. All i want to do is create long playing dvd audio discs from my collection of cds and mp3s. nothing fancy here. can someone tell me the easiest way to accomplish this using the above mentioned software. I have read the rather poorly written help file included but found it to be quite vague. I was able to create a montage from mp3 files i had on my pc. Can you create a montage directly from a CD using .cda files or must they be ripped 1st? my preference would be to put a bunch of montages together and create an iso which i presume could be burned with nero. unless of course there was an easier/faster way.

thanks in advance,

newbie

Huh, I didn't know anything worked except for Discwelder. Great to hear if it works, would love to hear from other members. The thing I don't like about Discwelder is having to convert MP3 to Wav first. I know it's simple, but I've been spoiled with auto MP3 converting burning software. Cheers!

Ask and ye shall receive...

Copied from a post from Member MINTCENT (these worked for me) - also do a search on dvd audio wavelab and there are many more threads:
-------------------------------

automata... im not sure what method you are trying, but wavelab is for the most part very easy to use, it just takes some time....

Here is a basic summary of how to create DVD-A that will play with NO problems in a Acura TL that contains a Multiple CD Compliation, Using different group on a regular DVD-R.. ( I have been suing memorx, and I have about 25 of them made... and they all work perfect)

to make a DVD-A in wavelab that is just a bunch of different cd's

Just create a new audio montage
each montage will be "a group"
fill the audio montage with all the songs u want
Under the DVD-A tab, make sure to select DVD,
and when you have all the songs in the audio montage, you click this little wand looking button, its the wizard, and thats what will seperate the songs into different tracks, so its just one long song when you click the wand, just click APPLY

save the audio montage... repeat the process to whatever albums you want

create a new DVD-A Project

then just click the little + button, and add the audio montage files...

BAM

thats it... easy as 1,2,3.... it will even show you how much space each montage will take up on the DVD-A

I couldn't even get Discwelder to work... Wavelab works like a charm.

I downloaded wavelab 5 off of Limewire last night with no problem. Make sure you have a good antivirus program on your PC to download the serial or crack.. Most of them i tried to down load contained viruses.

Hopefully i will be able to try the sw out tonight.

Thanks fellas!

Disclaimer:

I don't in any way shape or form support software piracy....

However, a little birdie told me if you tried www.thepiratebay.org and search for wavelab, you may find what you are looking for.

I tried Steel and Chrome (demo versions downloadable), and quite frankly I think they are complete garbage. Having worked with several audio based applications in the past, I'm surprised they get away with charging so much for those 2 versions.

If all you want is to drop .wav files onto a list, and click burn, then great the program is for you. If you want anything outside of that, its grossly under featured for the cost.

Just my 2 cents, and everyone is a critic right?

Wavelab wil accept many forms including Wav and MP3. I usually rip my CD's to WAV so I don't lose any clarity and import them into my audio montage. One you've added all the file into your montage, use the clips tab to make sure they are all lined up and not overlapping. Then use the CD/DVD tab to use the wizard thal lines up all your tracks. Use the wrench icon on the DVD tab and change your format to 16 bit if you want to fit more music on one DVD. I think CD's are 16 bit anyways.

I've read posts (older ones) where DVD+R actually works... Do you know if it also works? I have 8X DVD+R but I burn at 2.4X to make sure that it burns a good quality using the Wavelab... Is there a brand of DVD+R or DVD-R that you recommend?

thanks for all the replies,

finally had a chance to implement what's been said and besides 1 coaster i have successfully burned 2 dvd-r. Each one had 65 songs on it however in both cases the last 5-10 tracks dont work. Both dvds were about 4.5-4.6 gb and burned successfully using nero via and iso image.

Anyone know why the TL cant read the last bunch of tracks? Do I need to create the DVDs closer to 4gb?

Also I couldnt get nero to burn the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folder directly so I had to create the iso image. my pc is not that fast so it takes about 10-15 minutes to do this. Is there a way to have wavelab simply create the iso directly rather than having to do the extra step of converting.

Thanks for all your help,

Z

714hitman is the man when it comes to Wavelab. I also had to burn ISO from Wavelab...presume it's because wavelab is not recognizing my DVD burner. I successfully burned to a DVD+R BUT does not work in Acura. My burner only burns to +R/+RW.... my friend burns all types... will let you know when I get the -R burnt and if it works in the TL

I think so. If I go over 4.1 GB, Wavelab asks for a larger DVD.

Don't forget to use the wrench icon and set it to 16 bit to get more space from your DVD.

thanks,

i am pretty sure i left it a 24bit. i assume the sound quality is the same at 16bit since we are only talking about cd quality sound in the 1st place. i will set it to 16 from now on and cut my montages down to about 4gb.

i 've read some where says when copying wav to dvd, all songs are connected into one big long track, that means you can't skip each songs. can some1 confirm or deny this?

Wavelab splits the tracks out into clips. You can have up to 99 per group. They work just like tracks in the TL. The channel button on the steering wheel will let you change songs.
