Not quite sure of your question but...yes...it should work no problem as long as the ohm's match up. Sounds like a good time to do a speaker "upgrade"

replacing just one speaker will make it sound like crap. different speakers have different stage effects. at least if you're going to replace one door speaker at least replace the other side as well to even it up a bit.

ya I would def go with just replacing either both door speakers or all speakers. FYI stock speakers are all 2 ohm and im guessing the speaker you have is 4 ohm

So....how much you thinking on the $$$ side of it. I need to know whether you think "quality" and "too expensive" is $100 for a set a speakers, or $700...or more. Also, you won't get any good bass from 6.5" door speakers off a small amp. If you want bass, especially the lower Hz tones/frequencies, your going to want a sub...simple as that. You don't have to go crazy with it but a 10" sub, 6.5" components, and a 4-channel amp sounds like it would be PLENTY for you. Just need to know your overall budget so I can recommend you speakers in your price range

Alright so 2-300 Max....you've got a 10 and an amp. What's the model # on the amp??

Here's some that I like:

- Image Dynamics ctx65cs
- Alpine SPX17REF
- Rainbow SLC265 or CSX265

...To be honest I could sit here and list all the budget 6.5" components but it's up to YOUR ear and if you can find somewhere to listen to some of these to get a feel of what you like (tweeter material, etc) then that'd be a HUGE help to you. If not then start researching the companies I listed and use people's reviews on car audio forums to find out what best fits you. Here's a list of most of the top budget component companies:

Image Dyamics
CDT
Rainbow
Hertz
Boston Acoustics
Alpine (spx17ref and up)
MB Quart
Crescendo
RE
Eclipse (8365's..can be bright though)
Audioque (never heard the components from AQ but I've heard they're solid)

Focal..Dynaudio...naw jk...these 2 are WAAY out of your range

The best advice you can really give someone on speakers is for them to just get out there and do some leg work and listen to different speakers for themselves. What other's may feel is a really good speaker might be a complete dud to others. Different ears different taste and different music types. Which is why I never bother telling anyone of a particular brand to go with. Most people who do that are bias because they own that speaker or amps or equipment. What ever the case may be. Just make sure you take the time to listen to different speakers. Take into account when listening to it at the audio shop it will not sound like that in a car. Best thing to do if you get a chance is if you hear a car with good sounds that you like. Ask to listen to it a bith and sit in it. Most people will feel more than happy to show off their sound system to you while you take advantage in comparing as you go along doing your shopping. Never purchase amps based on "Peak" Always look for the smaller font size letter that says "rms". Best practice is to range out meaning match up your amp rms to the speaker peak wattage. This will help you alot with not blowing your speakers or underpowering them and on top of that it will likely not overwork your amps or clip them if you don't go full on max out volumes all the time. Good luck with what ever you choose.

Just to avoid making a whole new thread for my question, I was wondering if someone can help me out here ... I purchased some Image Dynamics CTX65CS's (awesome speakers IMO) after hearing a set in another person's car not too long ago. However, I found that installing these speaker will require some modification of the stock speaker location ... I'm just wondering what are my options in terms of making my new speakers fit. I know I can always cut it up, but I'd like to see what my other options are before I hack away lol. Wooden baffles?? Speaker adapters out there than I can use???

Thanks in advance everyone!!!

PS - Just to name some other audio components I am going to be using the ID's with--> Alpine PDX 4.100 amp, JL 10W3V3 sub w/ Alpine MRP-M500 amp, Knukonceptz 4awg wiring to stinger distribution block. RCAs/LOCs ... still trying to figure out what's the best option for that @__@

Not positive on how it looks down there because I haven't worked on my TL yet but I'm assuming that if you bought/made a MDF speaker bracket and used some sort of sound deadening you would be okay. It would raise the speaker up another 1/4" or 1/2" and should clear the factory hole. I was going to order these....post up pics and your review on how they sound ASAP
