Speaker Buzz

Has anyone else had any problems with speakers buzzing? My right rear speaker sounds like a bee. Not bad at higher volumes, but down low it's pretty noticeable. My dealer already replaced the speaker and the entire radio. No help. I've been living with it but would really like to get it fixed.

I usually don't use my cell phone in the car. The speaker buzzes all the time, but is really worst right after I start the car.

Maybe they need to look at the amps. They have to fix it, it's under warranty.

My 02 TL's Bose speakers started buzzing at one point, and they threw parts at it. It took replacing the entire system (headunit, both amps, equalizer, and all speakers) to solve it. But that's what they did because they had to.

While playing some piano music on the CD hold your hand to the speaker and press around the grille to determine if it's a mechanical rattle rather than a blown speaker.

So far I think they have pretty much replaced everything, speaker, radio, amp. The buzz is definitely something electronic and not a mechanical thing. Someone mentioned that it may be a problem with a ground.

Don't let them give up. They need to keep on it until they fix it. It doesn't sound like they've replaced everything as the problem is still there. It could be a bad ground, but replacing components would probably correct this.

Does it buzz all the time or only when the head unit is on? Does it do it regardless of source (ie cassette, CD, radio, etc.)? Does the buzz change volume when you change the volume knob?

It pretty much buzzes all the time, no matter what the source. At higher volumes you really can't notice it. Between songs, or at low points in songs though you can tell it's there.can definitely hear it.

I would guess, then, there is a faulty ground connection between the head unit and the amplifier module.

Ya my front speakers were doing that and I took it in and they replaced the amp and I have had no issue since. Besides the deck rattling and poor condition of the leather and headliner sagging...

BLM,

Did you ever get the buzz fixed? My 04 TL is doing the exact same thing. Would love to know what the fix is. It's driving my wife nuts.

Thanks,

Bob

It might be one of the wires that go to the speaker, but def get that fixed.

I don't have those kind of speaker problems because all of those speaker problems were replaced.

Bob,
I did. It took about nine times but they finally just traced all the wires between the radio and the speakers and found one that was pinched, I think under the dash. It was pretty frustrating.

Its a feedback from noise cancelation. do a search about audio noise. it is your noise cancelation that you need to unhook.

BLM,

Thanks for the reply. Everything keeps pointing to wires of that speaker. Guess I'll just have to start tracing the wires back.

Speaker buzzes are usually due to malfunctioning ANC (Active Noise cancellation) circuit which resides in the head unit. But it could also be some issues with the wiring harness, interference from other devices or with the sound pick-up microphones which feed the ANC circuit.

Took the car to the dealer. They fix it, even though the car was out of warrenty. (55000 miles). They replaced the amplifier and everything seems good.

Thanks for all your replys,

Bob
