I would recommend starting with a sub and amp connected to the factory deck and speakers, and then upgrading to a signal procesor and component speakers and amp down the road.
My advice-> JL AUDIO ONLY!!!!

What kind of sound do you want? Did you want a system similar to the one you heard in the TSX? The amount you spend on the system depends on what you want accomplished (ex. Entertain the entire city, or just the passengers inside (and maybe the block you happen to be driving through)
Here's a list of what I'm planning for my ride
Already have a 12" Kicker L7 and sealed box (going for custom later)
0/1 gauge wiring for the amp
Capacitor
Optima Battery located in the trunk
Battery Isolator
Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2 Sound Processor (to keep the 5.1) and make adjustments
Had problems in my previous ride where the the amp was either draining my battery or blowing my alternator. (Only had an alpine deck and a 300w RMS amp)
So I'm hoping the extra battery +isolator and cap will help avoid the drain issue
I don't plan on upgrading the interior speakers until I hear how the system sounds with the setup planned above...
Going this route will allow for more quality and future add-ons
Most folks just go for sub/amp combos just to get the bass (won't allow you to fine tune your system the way you want it)
Hope this helped you.
Maybe someone can get into more detail (List components and the reason why each is needed ex. amp subs box wires etc)
