That's a nice example of how smoothly it goes when you follow the instructions and the script provided. You would be surprised how many people don't read the advice and then get bogged down, having to call two or three times.
Welcome to Acurazine and to the TL forum. I think you will find a welcoming home here among people of similar interests.
Be sure and visit the "sticky" threads on the top of the index page- especially the one that says "3G Garage". There is a wealth of information neatly organized in there. Try and search to answer your questions. And, if you don't find what you are looking for, you can always post a question here.
I always refer people first to the garage because 95% of people's questions have already been asked and answered in great detail.
It's good to have you as a new member of the Acurazine family.

I had called the main number this afternoon regarding a separate issue and figured, while I was at it, I'll try to renew as I'm coming up due. They had never heard of any coupon and said the TL was only eligible for the first 3 months as a trial.
I then called back using the good phone number and followed the script. I didn't even have to mention the code and she renewed me for the $77. Woo!

Here's another deal. I just got a voice mail on my home phone telling me my subscription had expired and offering me $4.95/month but it is only for 3 months. The number to call for that is (800) 892-5400.
$77/yr = $6.42/month but buys you a longer time period. If some of you want to gamble a little, you can try the $4.05/month offer but will have to call in every three months. The message didn't give any promotion code, it just said to call the number above. You'll probably need your radio code.
I'm not too interested in the service - hardly ever found anything worthwhile playing and like Sirius better. I wish they offered a factory system with Sirius rather than XM. I will likely just install an iPod interface as described elsewhere here and go with that.

One more confirmed for the $77. A little background, I have a 05 TL and I had the $60 for one year. I tried the first time to get the $77 deal, following the script verbatium, and got rejected stating that they do not allow it if you had any special deals the year prior.
So my wife called the next day (today), following the script. Of course she put on her female charms and got the deal first try. I was nice too, but she is cute and has the voice to match. The guy she talked to said that she isn't supposed to get the deal due to last year having the $60 deal, but he gave it to her anyway. Just an FYI.

Sure glad I saw this.
I had paid for 3 months $37.95 and now I just received a monthly charge on my card since my 3 months were over.
So I called them up and explained that I didn't want an auto renewal and I received this offer.
Told him that credit card is fine and he went with it
He subtracted the $12.95 off the $77 were good to go , thanks a lot guys

Enthusiastic Newbie
Renewed & Still Got Letter?
I must be missing something from this rather long thread.
Bought mine Nov 04. Waited until 90-day freebie expired, then followed the script to get $60. In Dec 05, I followed script again and for $77 renewal for my second year.
Now I receive a letter from XM stating that my one-year is ending and $38.85 / quarter is the new rate.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

I followed the script and it worked for me; $77 dollars for the year with no activation fee.
I didn't know my radio code, but they looked it up for me through my home phone number. Great service!

just say you received the letter again, since people are still saying they just received them and they are accepting them, whos to say they won't send it again?
Unless they definetly aren't sending after you do it one time.

Just called in today 2/16 and got the $77.00.
I am guessing that there are certain states that get charged the tax (where XM offices are located) and others that get to enjoy it tax free.
I am in Florida and I got charged $77 + tax = $88.31 total.
Curious which other folks are getting charged taxes.

Just did it, worked like a champ. Called up, got a somewhat unfriendly-sounding operator and told her my free trial just expired and that I got some offer for $77 but it was at home. She got all my info and asked me what the offer entailed and I said that it was "zwinback or something like that" and it was a done deal. Too easy, maybe they are looking at todays dissapointing financial results...thanks again guys!!!

Worked like a charm! It took 2 tries but the "How is your day?" move really did the trick. The rep gave me the deal and even commented that she wished she had more customers like me! Thank goodness for scripts!

I have an '04 TL, my trial XM ran out in January 2004 and I never renewed it. Will I have a problem trying to use the script to get the $77 for a year since my radio hasn't been active for 2 years? I don't want to mess up a good thing for the forum here as I doubt they're sending letters to people inactive for that long.

Thanks for the info. I just activated mine today. I noticed that some people got charged an activation fee, however, the rep told me that the activation fee is included in the $77/ year deal.

Hey every. Newby here. I had an Accord before my TL and I had the deal where I pay only $5 a month for XM. I called to day, and told them I was offered this before, and they said they'll accept this offer, and allowed me to pay in the quarterly installments. $60 for the year. they offered this to me right before they increased there mothly fee to $12. Try it and see if it works.

$77 a year for xm no problem
I called XM and asked them for the $77 deal and the guy said yes right away. Didn't even ask me for the ZWINBACK code. Thanks to everyone in the forum. Now I get to listen to Opie and Anthony for another 12 months.

Still works. My trial period expired Thursday. I called on Friday and asked to get the $77 renewal plan with no reactivation fee. The customer service rep said no problem. Showed up on my credit card today for the $77 plus tax.

AVB for President!
The question is if current users of the $77/yr promotion can get a renewal at $77 again when their term runs out... I got 4 months before my current year runs out...

worked from the second call
Here the story of my ordeal. First of all I have the XM radio for over 16-18 months. I had the radio for the first 4 mo free and then a promotion of $66/year that ended about 2 months ago. I have singed up for the full price $12.95/mo (or whatever it was). I then saw that the ZWINGBACK promotion is still working.
Call #1 get some girl on the phone who proceed to ask me for my radio ID number- well who has their radio ID with them at work ? not me – just not that organized…
She was able to look it up by home telephone number. No problems there.
I tell her that I got the flyer and it mention the promotional code ZWINGBACK on it. She said that she of course knows about the $77/year ZWINGBACK promotion but she also needs a second ID NUMBER that was on the flyer. I tell her that I don’t have the flyer with me since I left it home… She suggested that I fax it to her when I get home or tomorrow and gives me he fax number. End of call number 1
Call#2 – I call the center again and a guy picks up the phone. Here is what did work for me. I tell him that I called a week ago and said that I wanted to discontinue my current subscription and was promised that somebody would get back to me. I then tell him that somebody did call and said that I should call the customer call center and mention that somebody called in reference to the cancellation of my account and that I was offered a ZWINGBACK $77/year promotion to retain the XM radio. The guy from XM said no problem do you want us to use the same credit card that we billed. I said actually no I want to use a different credit card and that was fine. The total charge would be $77/year. End of call.

bretov: if you had used the phone number provided and the correct code: "zwinback", you might have gotten it on the first try.
It helps to call the number given and use the script provided.
When you make it up as you go along, you take your chances.
But, all's well that ends well. You got the deal.

Hi everyobody, I noticed that there hasn't been a posting for a while. I just wanted to let y'all know that I tried today and during the first call he accepted the zwinback code. He paused for a few seconds like, 'uhh, ok' and then said "I'll go ahead and make that happen." He was really nice, but so was I. He didn't ask for anything but my credit card #, address and radio code. They must be on commission or something Anyway, hope everyone has a good weekend!

I used the promotion to get the last year for $60. My year was up, so I decided to try use the promo for another year. I just called 800-682-4114 and was able to get the $77 deal. However, the woman who took care of me noted that becuase I had already used the promo she wasn't supposed to let me use it again. She said that they are aware a lot of people are using the promo for multiple years and they are tracking it. So, it is still working but if you're trying to use the ZWINBACK for multiple years you might run into problems.

I just called the number on the letter I got for rewnewing my account. I called to cancel because I didnt want my card charged the automatic $11.87 a month.
He did say that was the rate right now but since I started out with the $60 promo plan before he can offer me the $77 plan now.
Done deal.

Dialed the specified number and provided the script. They asked for my my XM ID (found on channel 0). No problems other than the $11 tax Florida adds on. Still a solid deal.

Followed the script and dialed the specified number. Got it $77 deal on the first try. XM expired on Thursday. Called on Saturday and was back on in a matter of 30 minutes.
Now here's the interesting part: I was talking to her about the details and she had to take care of some of the background details, right after I gave her my credit card number I hear this voice in the background that said "Don't let him register". Then she rep puts me on hold. She comes back in acouple minutes and said I was all set just. Leave the car parked for 30 minutes then manually go to XM channel 1 then 75 then 175. Not sure what that was all about. I got back into the car a couple hours later and XM was back on without dialing those numbers. Thought I'd share that.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the deal is still on!
I called this morning to renew my expired subscription. I followed the script word for word and had no problem getting the deal. $77 flat, no tax here in GA, no reconnection fee.

Similar – but not quite the same scenario. I purchased my 04 TL used. After reading this thread – I decided to call XM and see about a “free trial run”. The first operator said “No way!”. Ah – but being educated from this thread – I knew I could just hang up and call again to get a different reply. Second call got “Sure – I can do a free 30 day trial”.
Now my 30 days is up – and I got the first bill in the mail. $12.95 plus taxes, etc. Ouch – too high for my tastes. So I just called the normal number (not the number listed here). Stated I wanted to terminate service. I was instructed to call a different number – 800-998-7900. Had to tell this new guy I wanted to cancel the service. I stated it was too much money at $12.95/month. He stated (or should I say – read a script to me) that there was a yearly subscription (with no contracts or cancellation fees) for $119.88/year. I stated this was still too much – and asked him about promotion code zwinback. He stated he did not know what that promotion code was (as I suspected – because I didn’t call the number listed in this thread). So I stated once again I wanted to cancel. At this time – he offered me 2 more months free.
So this is where I am – getting three months free (I think similar to what most new car owners would get). So I will wait these 2 months. But then not sure what to do then – as my situation is different than from most of you first time/original owners who get the offer letter. I think I will have to cancel out, then call the number listed in this thread. Or maybe at the end of 2 months I just go ahead and call this number first and try to claim zwinback. Until then – 2 more months of XM listening.

Thanks for the $77 heads up on the XM subscribtion. I called last night about one day after my 3 month trial ended on my new car and the lady at XM said she shouldn't do it since I wasn't really eligible for the XM offer. She gave it to me anyhow even though she said she shouldn't. No problems other than having to call XM twice to get them to refresh my signal to get the radio started. I am back listening to MLB on XM.
