Aftermarket head unit questions
Im thinking about installing a nav aftermarket head unit in my non-nav TL.
1. Can i do this and scrap the stock amp?
2. What harnesses will I need and how should I wire everything up, referring to power, antenna, ect, im planning on getting a unit with 3 preamp outputs so that i can simply run RCA outputs to my aftermarket amps inputs.
3. Will I have to remove the entire dash or can i get away with only removing the metal trim?
4. If i do have to remove the entire dash, how long will this install take, ex from when I start taking the dash apart, the install of the new HU, to putting everything back.
5. What size unit should I get so that it will fit nicely in the existing spot without having to make a special encasement. Im going to cover the metal trim in carbon fiber so that i wont have the indents from the volume/tuning adjustments.
6. will the new head unit draw power from my aftermarket amp via the RCAs?
7. Is there anything else I should know about this installation, I searched the site profusely on DIYs and instructions on how to do this but could not find anything.

Man you have 3 threads going? lol
SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH
Do some research. This has been done and some of the questions are something you will have to figure out. Like the time it will take to disassemble the dash...all depends on your tools, experience and basic know how.
And if your asking this....
Im assuming your electrical knowledge is very limited and you NEED to do your own teaching before you do anything and post 5 more threads!
