Rear camera installed... (lotsa pics) 3G Garage #I-154

Installation was straight-forward but still a pain. I started working on it at 9am this morning and I finished around 6:30pm.

I will let the pics talk for me...

Feel free to ask me any questions.

VERY nice install, can you take some pics in a completely dark area and take a few pics of you backing up to a car with no light, want to see how well it lights up with just the reverse lights

Also, how do you rate that camera? And how come u removed the rear seat?

Passenger side rear wheel well. Right on top of the NAV unit.

Yes it is. It's the rear license plate trim / backup light.

Ebay, from the above link.

Yes, Dom's converter has a trigger wire that you tap into the reverse light. So when you put the car in reverse it switches to the backup camera feed.

camera has pretty good spec. (it's on the ebay page) even more, it's one of the smallest camera I can find. Check out the night pics.

I removed the rear seat b/c I have to route the power wire of the video converter box to the fuse box.

sorry I still can't visualize the spot.

Is the picture oriented correctly, i.e. top is top, bottom is bottom ?
which way is front...left or right side of the pic ?
And How to access this spot, from trunk or cabin ?
thanks

Is there a place near the trunk that power for the unit can be taken from rather than going up to the fuse box?

So if you do this, then the install is totally confined to the trunk right? Or do you still have to run the video line-out to the LCD screen?

It's in the groupbuy forum. It's a video interface box.

https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/%24125-tvandnav2gos-feb-navi-video-conversion-%24125-ends-march-31st-331406/

I highly recommend getting the pnp option (+$100) it makes life ALOT easier.

Per someone's post from the group buy forum that might be a bad idea to tap from the NAV unit. I tap the power for the interface box from the fuse unit.

You run the rca connector from the camera to the interface box, the box connect to the nav unit. no other wires needed other than power.
