Radar Detector Freezing??

So a couple of times I forgot to take my RX65 down... Needless to say its really really hot in my area as of lately.. Keeping the temperature in mind is it normal for a radar detector to stop its power on self test? So far this has happened to me about 5 times.. I haven't had a chance to call Beltronics to ask them what I should do... I guess my questions are is this to be expected? And if it is with this unit do I just take it down when its hot? Its kind of pain to get it mounted just right.. Thanks for your thoughts...

Scuba629 - I always disconnect my radar detector and put it in the center consoole when I leave the car outside. It get stupidly hot in my car, even with all the tinting.

It sounds like your detector may be damaged, and possibly by the heat. If it's under warrranty, I'd send it back for repair.

My Escort X50 had to have its antenna replaced. It was the heat.

I will see if they will take it back.. And from now on I will just keep in it the center console. Thanks all. Thought radar dectectors were made for heat.
