Please help me figure out how my car works :)
Hey guys. I hosted picked up an 04 tl with Nav. Love the car. Understand why you guys are owners. The previous owner had a an iPod interface installed but couldn't remember how to use it by the time he sold the car. There is an iPod cable running underneath the center console up to the armrest. It is peripheral branded. I've been trying to figure out how to switch to its input but no luck so far. If I hit XM and roll the tune knob it will give me options for sat/aux1/aux2/iPod. I started with the iPod selection but I just hear static. But it looks like the car takes control of the iPod because the iPod just says its ready to disconnect. Is this a popular interface can someone help me figure out how it works please. Thanks. Guys
One other side question. I have synced my phone with the hands free link is there a way to access my address book from the car or is the best way to do it from my phone. Thanks for the help guys.

Sorry for the double post. So the car does recognize the iPod. It shows me the artist and track but does not play any sound. I've tried messing with different options by switching to channel and category but this doesn't help. My ultimate goal is to plug this into the iPod cable and use my Samsung through Bluetooth

Keep Right Except to Pass
(a) Dial the number on the phone and transfer it to the HFL after the call is started.
(b) Create a phonebook using the HFL and assigning names to each phone number. (Note that each entry is separate—a mobile phone may let you assign multiple numbers to each contact, but the HFL doesn't. So if your wife is named Mary and you have her office and mobile numbers in the HFL, you'd need to set up, for example, "Mary work" and "Mary cell" to be able to call her.)
Or you could just say the phone number. But yeah, I know how it is.....I don't know my wife's work number without looking it up, but I could rattle off the number for Luna without even thinking about it because I hear their TV commercials so often during baseball games.

Sounds like how the isimple operates. Not sure why it wouldn't work, but try aux1-2. I know someone was using one of those a2dp adapters and had to put it in aux for it to pick up the sound. (lost track info, etc IIRC)

Now this may be a silly question, but it actually turned out to be a reason why there was no sound for my friend's system - do you have any actual "music" on your device? If your "iPod" (whether it's the actual iPod, or the Music app within the iPhone, if applicable) didn't have any music loaded, then the device will not be recognized. You might also want to adjust the device's volume to max volume so it takes advantage of the car's audio.
The Aux1/Aux2 pertains to video or 3.5mm jack (headphone plug).
