Please help, bluetooth system is locked?
I just purchased an 06 Acura Tl and while trying to setup up bluetooth, it says the system is locked please enter the 4 digit passcode. This code is not any cody that I have tried. The dealership told me that the would need the car for a whole day possibly 2 to fix this problem. Also I have already tried unhooking the negative battery terminal with no luck. I have tried pretty much every normal code ie:0000,1111,1234,7890. Any help would be great.
Thank you in advance.

Sorry I didn't know the bluetooth system could be locked. You've tried the radio code? That's the only thing I could think of. The bluetooth system is linked to the radio.

That is the same thing that everybody said at Acura. I have tried the radio code and the navi code and no luck. Also you have to speak the code not type it in.

if you have the owners manual handy check page 172. if not try this. press and release talk, say "system",the option for clearing the system is here. say "clear" it will tell you that all phones, numbers and passcodes will be cleared and it may take up to 2 minutes say "yes" then say "O.K."

Ok here is the deal. When I hit the phone button immediately it says system is locked. On page 164 in the manual it says you can enter a 4 digit passcode to enable security. each time you start the car the passcode has to be said to enable the link.
J2bates, I tried what you said and all the available commands are : enter the 4 digit passcode, cancel, go back, and hands free help. If I say hands free help she just repeats "please enter 4 digit passcode"

I never tried the lock feature but I thought it could help. You said you disconnected the battery but try pulling fuse #6 in the driver kick panel (by your left foot as you sit in the seat) for 10 minutes or so.

Could your TL be a demo or dealer car? If that is the case, someone at the dealership must have already used the HFL in the car to set up his or her cell phone, and only that person knows the 4 digit code to unlock it.
When I bought my TL, it was brand new with only 8 miles on it, and I had to program the HFL from step 1, according to the menu. I use a 4 digital code I can easily remember and never have a problem.
Although I have a second cell phone, but I've not yet paired it. Can you treat your phone as a second phone and try to pair it? I don't have the owner's manual with me now and I cannot look up the instructions. Sorry.

Just to let everyone know. I got it fixed. The ONLY way to fix it is to put in the 4 digit passcode. I actually found the previous owners name in the service manual, called the dealership where he bought it. I had them contact previous owner and asked for the code and he remembered it! The service manager that I spoke with said the only other option was to REPLACE the HFL system. So make sure that there is no HFL passcode when you purchase a TL.

You don't have to set the code. It just so happens that the guy before me did.

Matt,
Yes I know that, I was wondering if once the code was set as in your case, could you set it up so that it no longer needs the code.
In my case I love the fact that I just get into the car and the phone is connected. All cars should have this, it's a great safety device.

i had the same issue (car was a demo). i think someone was messing around with it when they were test driving it - the only fix (outside of calling that person) is to get acura to physically reset the computer. at least that is what i did - works fine now.

I sopose if you had the time you could try to imput all posibilities of 10,000 codes. That is probably the dealership said that it would originally take a day or two.

Hey guys i purchased a used 04 TL and i went through the set up menu and reset the password with no problem the first day i bought it. I just read the manual briefly and went through the voice commands to reset the 4 digit password to a simple 1212 code. It was very fast and I had my phone set up easily. From what I remember I went through the menu in the touch screen and went through phone set up and just followed the prompts even though I did have the code from the previous owner I reset it in case i get another phone through warranty in the future since I use my car for work and drive all day They gave me a sprint pocket pc phone which sucks ass! but hey its better than nothing!!! I did it to not have to memorize another useless code number!!!
