PDX Amp Under Seat
I am installing a sound system in my friends 2004 Acura TL and there isnt many spots to mount amps without doing custom work or a sloppy install. I was wondering if anyone knew if a PDX4.100 Amp would have heat issues if I mounted it under one of the front seats. There is very little space under the seat, but the amp will fit under there.. I know most amps require space around, but are these amps able to run in that tight of a space without shutting down? Please let me know asap.

You will need a good amount of space to keep the amps cool, if you want something smaller, take a look at the smaller xtant amps, I believe kennedy is using one for his sub and he put it under the seat.

Damn, I was really hoping to get away with it being under the seat. I dont have the amp yet, but maybe ill slide it under there to see how tight of a fit it really is.

There is space behind the panels in the trunk to put amps. You could also put it under the seat, but you will have to cut the carpet and padding to flush mount it in there. These amps do not get hot. Ive played them hard for hours and they are still cool to the touch.

They will be fine if they fit. Since it is open on the front and back it will allow for cross ventilation and heat can be moved away. Additionally, cold air stays low and hotter air goes up so that will help with cooling even more.
I don't play my system loud often, but when I do, my amps remain cool unless I pound bass for hours.

I have fried other amps in the past but my PDX amps can be pushed pretty hard and they will stay cool to the touch.
I agree with Trew. They should be fine if they fit.
